Will Impreza GC8 (MY93~00) struts fit my MY92 Legacy BC5 Turbo? I'm in need of replacement and I can get a good deal on complete Impreza struts. Will the top strut mounts fit to the body of the Legacy (top mounts of Legacy are worn)?

Any info is appreciated.

the spring rates are wrong because the legacy is heavier, and will sag at the back, might not be too bad on a saloon but my estate is too low.

If you want to do it, keep the legacy springs and spring tops, and fit the impreza shocks and top mounts.

I want to buy a set of fully adjustable struts/springs/top mount assemblies from Cusco, Zerosports or Prova for my Legacy. I only want to know if they fit, I'm not worried about setup as I will strip down the Legacy, after I'm done with it, it will weigh less than a standard Impreza.

coil overs are a better bet as you can adjust out the height issues, and use harder springs with ease.

Try and get some shocks off a Legacy GT-B (B for Bilstein). The Bilstein dampers on them offer probably the best ride/handling compromise of any car I've ever owned. Most impressed with them.

Just to second Pavlo - yes the GC8 suspension will go on a Legacy but the front spring top cups are different. I had Impreza legs on my Legacy wagon but it bottomed out everywhere and was really bouncy. Now with '99 Impreza struts and Spax Legacy springs and sits spot on.

 

I want to use Impreza top mounts (by Cusco, Zerosports, Tein or any other Japanese manufacturer) on the front to have fully adjustable coil over suspension. Do the holes not match with the studs on the Impreza tops or is there a different reason they do not fit the Legacy?

 

They do fit. The top mounts fit. The standard dampers, however, use different top cups (thing that holds the spring in). You shouldn't have any probs using Cusco mounts.
