chaps,
I know there is the other STi7 suspension thread but this might help the ones not cured by the top mount fixes.

I have had the odd knock/rattle from the backend as our roads in Hereford are the worse in the UK and like a lot of you it sounds like high up the suspension

Went on Hols with Wife and kids, windows down and woo and behold on roughish old roads(Devon) knocking/banging even worse Wound up windows Knocking reduced in frequency and loudness. Open windows Louder and more frequent Most the noise seems to be coming from the doors knocking in door lock mechanisum maybe.

Now I'm not dissing anyone who reckons it a suspension fault just letting you all know there could be another reason for the knocking. Was going to ask the Wife to put head in window then close it to see if the noise would stop Going to check dealer if doors are set up O/K

Ps IM 10% of all proceeds if it's a cure LOL

Tony

What if the noise is louder outside the car and that's why you hear it more?

Have you tried driving with the door open (still secured somehow)?

Pete,
It seems to be that the door just makes it sound more with the window down simularly to when shutting the door with window up and then with window down
no haven't tried the door open trick yet but might try with a cloth trapped in the door to wedge it

Tony

Let us know when you have tried it, but I suspect it won't be that simple.

T5NYW,

My offside drivers door is definitely knocking/banging slightly when I go over bumps, seems to be getting worse as well.

I'm booked into my dealer in 2 weeks to get this and a few other warranty snags sorted out.

Cheers

Paul
