Advice on Impreza GX suspension upgrades
#1
Hi all,
I'm currently looking at three options for my '01 Impreza 2.0GX :
A. Eibach Pro Kit (for WRX) with original dampers
B. Eibach Pro Kit combined with Koni dampers (adjustable in stiffness)
C. H&R coilovers (adjustable in height only).
Some advice plz guys/gals...
Remember it's not for a WRX, and it's to improve road holding and reduce body roll.
Thanx

Just to let you know that the Prodrive spring kit we developed for the WRX also fits the GX model.
A colleague of mine has had them fitted on to his own car with excellent results.
Please email me directly if you would like more information.
Thanks, Nick.

I'm in the same boat as you at the mow, looking for an '02 GX spring kit... although I was considering the grey eibachs initially - but these seem to have been indefinitely delayed due to initial fitment problems on the '01/'02 specific version.
I had the Prodrive Eibachs on my previous '01 WRX, and they were very good at reducing the body roll, stability under braking/high speed... only problem I found with 18" alloys was on some of the bumpier B-roads the back end was a little hoppy.. But, I think that had as much to do with having such a low profile tyre + spring kit...
To summarise, I've pretty much decided on getting the Prodrive springs again, but for the GX this time - and I won't be putting 18"s on my car, I'm currently running 17" WRX wheels on my GX wagon.
The grey eibachs may (or may not - nobody knows yet) be slightly stiffer than the Prodrive offering, but all things considered (the really badly maintained B roads I use) - personally I think the Prodrive springs are best for me.
Alex
PS. Nick - thanks for confirming they fit the GX.

Thans for the input DrEvil,
I've decided to go one step further tho.
Ordered H&R coilovers (height adjustable),
so the springs are perfectly matched to the
shocks. I've been getting a few "your-shocks-will-
wear-out-quicker-if-you-use-lowering-springs"
messages.
My initial idea was to go for the Eibachs, but
it took so long for my dealer to try and order
the kit that I've saved up for coilovers. :-o
(MRT full exhaust coming soon too btw.)
Cheers

Also, check out the american I-club bbs, loads of feedback.
Ive dyno'd my car before doing any mods, so I will be able
to show the difference it makes, hopefully :-)
