13.1 Rack - 2.25
I've been thinking of upgrading my 2.5 rack in my type r to a 2.25.
Is it worth upgrading too?
I was thinking of using the newage rack as I might have a better chance of locating one and mating the UJ together.
Do all 2.25 racks come in newage JDM imprezas? OR is only in Spec C imprezas?

I‘ve never done it on a classic but it’s a nice upgrade on newages, steering feels more direct and telepathic but not too twitchy at top speed. It‘s a good mod to make a newage feel more nimble, can‘t really talk for a classic but I reckon it should be real good.
I think all jdm newages have it but better have that confirmed.

I've been looking for the same. You need either a V-Limited STI, Spec C or Pre-05 rack from a car which was spec'd with DCCD from new. Non-DCCD cars didn't have the quick rack installed. The rack you're looking for from a newage car is 34110FE440. You'll then need a hybrid UJ/kunckle to work between your column and the new rack. I believe Alyn at AS Performance can do this if you're able to provide him with the the two knuckles he needs to complete the work. I don't know which end gets kept long (i.e if it's a newage centre or classic centre) but it would be worth asking him if you can get the 'solid' UJ assembled by using one of the WRX spec flexi joints (which would definitely be possible if it uses the classic centre and top UJ and only the sewage lower UJ to get the correct spline). If so then that would be a cheaper way of getting the newage spec spline you need to mate with the new rack without paying the premium for the solid STI spec unit. Be careful of the later wide track quick racks as they use a different mounting to the engine subframe. I believe it can be cannibalised to fit but becomes a far more complex job.
Edited to add that there's one on Ebay at the moment which looks in good nick and came from a 45k mile Spec C. I was speaking to him about it but he went all radio silence so got one from elsewhere in the end. I think he has a few in stock so if you're not in a rush that would be a good option. I've got a few bits I need to do on the front end of mine so while it wasn't super urgent to get one, I wanted to get the rack sorted before embarking on everything else as it all needs to come off at the same time.

I've sourced a spec c myself and picking it up this week.
Only one way to find out if its much of an improvement.
Does anyone know of the correct part number for a spec c rack?
Ends in 440 right?
