Hi, My 2000 Imprezza AWD GX Auto has developed a knocking sound on the rear nearside, its only can be heard when you go right so obviously the weight pushes down on to whatever is causing it. It seems to be getting worse......Any ideas?

 

If it's coming from the rear then it's a good chance it's the rear shockers, these commonly fail on Subaru's. I've changed them on my 02 car. It started off as a knock which I could put up with at first but then slowly developed into quite a loud thumping noise every time I went over some uneven ground. Pushed the rear up and down to do a quick bounce test and then checked the shock absorber units with my hands and they had leaked most of their fluid so definitely needed replacing.
