Anyone tried this? I'm trying to replicate the compliant yet controlled characteristics of the P1 on a newage car - that ability to really attack a bumpy road that the P1 setup does so well. Have replaced the Eibach coilovers that came with my Blob with Prodrive red 05+ springs and KYB AGX which are better but still not in the P1's league. Obviously the newage is 150 kgs heavier than a P1.
The extra weight of the newage would squash them 13mm lower at the front and 11mm lower at the rear, than their design allowed for.
What length bump stops are you using?
What bar sizes are you using?
Which setting works best on the AGX's - 2/4 or 3/5?
After that... what about PCA dynamics wrx springs with the agx's. Or change from the agx's to koni inserts.
Or, as 'InTurbo' is trying, Bilsteins and rb320 springs. Although, thinking about that, they'd be the same rate, as what you have, but lower at the front.
Good feedback. I suspected the P1s aren't really suited to the weight of the newage but I liked them so much on my GC8 that I thought I'd inquire if anyone has tried them.
I have 22F/24R bars and inspired by InTurbo's thread will be trying OEM bars next to introduce more compliance. The AGXes are brand new and set on 2F/2R (out of 4 F+R).
As you say the Prodrive Reds are the same rate as RB320 springs, and RB320 Bilsteins are not an option as mine is a PCD100 car. PCA blues are definitely a possibility if the smaller ARBs don't achieve the improvement I'm looking for, as are Koni inserts although want to try different spring/ARB combos first before investing in new dampers.
Disconnect one end, of the front and rear bars, and go for a drive. So, you can feel how much the bars are, or are not an issue - you will be testing comfort, NOT cornering!

Roll-rock:
If the spring rate is relatively low and the sta bar is too stiff, a suspension movement, initially, occurring on only one side of the vehicle, will be transmitted to the other side, inducing an unsettling 'roll-rock' motion.
Seriously, what bump stops are you using?
Lift up the dust boots, push the bump stop fully up, and measure to distance between the bump stop and its contact point, on the strut.
I've had a chance to try the car with ARBs disconnected as suggested and the ride is much better but still more choppy than I would like.
My rear bump stops are here and the front ones are pictured below.
I think I will try different bump stops from PCA. I wonder if I should try the blue springs as well while I'm at it, given that I'll be disassembling the suspension again.
Thanks for the reply. I was under the impression PCA also supply bump stops for twin-tube dampers - for example for use with the blue springs and Excel-Gs.
The stops Peter will recommend you use, are the same stops you're already using.
Assuming the image you posted, are your actual front stops - the nose is getting a lot of use. PCA springs run slightly lower, I'd use the stop I recommended. In fact, it looks like the second bump stop section has, often, severely impacted the damper body.
