Default KW V3 Bottom (compression) adjuster

Anybody have any idea how brutal you can get on the bottom adjuster for compression damping on a KW V3?

Only had mine on the car less than a year, came to tweak settings away from the stock recommended settings for the first time on Friday and the bottom ***** are all seized up. On three of them, the grub screw won't even come out and any attempt with the correct size allen key is just chewing the heads up.

On the fourth which I did get the locking grub screw out of, I still can't adjust it

If the ***** are easily cut off and replaceable, that might be the next plan of action...

Expensive set of coilovers to not be able to adjust, but even more expensive to risk destroying them completely.

Any ideas?

Hi there

What I know from personal experience you will need to cut those Locking collars(spring perch)

Those parts are easily replaceable and you can buy them over here

http://www.courtenaysport.co.uk/buy-.../prod_889.html

We are replaced all 4 last time on my brother EP3 with KW V2 and really its pain in **** to replace

I would cut them and replace them, this is issue on all adjustable coilovers not just KW

Hope this helps

Thanks,Jura

The locking collars are fine, it's the compression damping **** on the base of the unit.

Happy to say that KW handled this brilliant. They sent me the sections from the service manual which explained how the adjustment ***** are replaced. They also supplied replacement ***** at a very fair cost.

It turned out that the grub screw was nothing to do with locking the adjustment in place, it simply holds in the central bearing type thing. This meant that even with the grub screws knackered - you just need to pop out a semi hard rubber seal and then the **** lifts right off.

You can see the old **** has literally stared disintegrating and the corrosion left behind was preventing the adjustment. I cleaned it all up with brake cleaner and refitted the new ***** with a smear of copper grease to hopefully add longevity.
