Default Choppy ride / WR Sport Springs

Suffering with a hard/choppy ride on my 55 plate Hawk, Im not expecting BM levels of comfort but it is comical at times on UK roads.

According to paperwork my car is fitted with WR Sport Spring Package (Part number SACC2555) so was wondering if these chaps are the culprits ???

Anyone had experience ? am thinking of reverting to OEM

Cheers

Hi mate, is your Hawk an STi or WRX? SACC2555 are STi springs originally fitted to WR1, see here: http://www.wr1oc.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=6384

If WRX then springs are wrong rating as STi is heavier. If not maybe your dampers are shot? Prodrive springs are supposed to be very compliant and specifically rated for British roads so sounds strange.

Thanks for the reply mate

It's either the fact it's a WRX or shot dampers because as you've said and from what I have read the Prodrive springs get good reports and were designed for UK roads

If it's an STi I can tell you that it doesn't matter if the suspension has the PPP WR springs; it's still rubbish. Manages to be both bouncy and crashy! Subaru misjudged the ride/handling balance of the hawk STi badly IMHO

I replaced it with BC coilovers with comfort springs and that was significantly better.

If you have a WRX, I'd suggest your dampers must be shot as that set up is supposed to be very good with the Prodrive springs, if a little bobby at the front end at times.

Numerous posts on people suffering with suspension knock but no actual reports of anybody changing them and resolving their issues.
