Default Enginetuner rebuilt forged EJ257 *REDUCED*

Here I have for sale my freshly rebuilt forged EJ257...
It started life in my 2008 Hatchback STI and was originially built with forged internals by enginetuner in 2010. I did around 20000 miles in it before I swapped it for my 2.35 stroker.
It has now been fully rebuilt with new rings, and acl bearings to the usual very high standard by enginetuner...

As good as new

Full Spec:
EJ257 Block
Wiseco pistons
K1 H-Beam Rods
STI Crank
ACL Race Bearings
Balanced Assembly
ARP Studs
RCM Oil Pump

This is ready to go now and once payment is cleared, arrangements can be made to either:
1. Collect from enginetuner in plymouth
2. Have it sent by courier (at extra cost)
3. Have it fitted to your car at enginetuner (at extra cost, probably best to call Alan or pm him on here for prices)

I am looking for £2300ono

Thanks for looking

How much did it cost you to have built mate? What power will this be good for?

Most tuners will say 450bhp is the limit for a forged EJ257. What it cost me is pretty irrelevant.

Sorry if you took offence mate me asking price im just weighing up my options wether it'd be cost effective to buy this one or have a fresh one built. Done some reading and this is a great price. Ill drop you a pm instead mate I could be interested in this

No offence taken mate
You wouldn't get much change from £4000 to have something built to this standard using new block etc

Cost around 3k for the bottom en rebuild. You still have to supply a block for that also so this is a snip at £2500. Absolute steal and if u hadn't just had a 2.1 built at engine tuner I'd have been having this myself. A well built 2.5 makes the best road car imo

What's the limiting factor here......open deck block? Are pistons rods etc good for more as block can have insert fitted.

The blocks semi closed. Usually on standard blocks it's pistons and/or head gasket. Forged pistons and decent head studs usually resolve this. Once sorted there a good engine (especially for road use). Some tuners don't like to run a lot of boost as it can sometimes balloon or move the liners. Alyn at as performance does an insert which helps prevent this

That seems to be the route that most people are taking for higher power 2.5's, whether it works is another thing

Pin or close deck the block, massive turbo, loads of power....wish I had the cash, I'm going down this rout, but not yet.

I had my engine built to just about same spec by AJ 3 years ago, been running 487bhp similar torque, and on top of that been running Nos, engine still all good,
Been doing track days, nurburgring, Spa, MLR sprints,
They say upto 500 bhp
They say Scdb is 1 if the limits,,, and rods,
Just building another 2.5 to run 650bhp,
This will have as insert in and bell iron rods"

£2300.00 for this motor is a steel, I know what mine cost,
