Hi andy, I am new to this as you can see. What do you mean exactly? I was under the illusion that once the ecu had this fitted it was re-mapable? Does it mean that it is fitted to a specific vehicle, mapped then that is it?

v1.0 is an EPROM emulator, like a scoobyecu and is not live mappable.
v1.2 is the old vsersion oof the live board, no maf/mafless switch, no twin maps, no motorsport features.
v2.0 is the latest and final spec board with all the goodies, latest software, etc.
Apologies if it is confusing, it is the result of continuous development.

Hi Andy,
Thanks for the info. Interesting seeing the developments. Can you tell me how the V1.0 can be tailored to suit an individual setup. I acquired this particular ecu on the premise that this daughterboard was mappable. I guess that getting things wrong is part of the journey I have embarked on, buying and tuning a classic Impreza myself.
Once i have established what the capabilities are for this particular ecu, it will be going back up for sale. I don't want to be misleading anyone or mis-selling it.
Hope you can help. This thread will hopefully help others who are looking to find out exactly what this version of the esl is capable of, how we can go about it and who with.
Many thanks for your imput so far.

Andy, sorry to jump on this thread but you seem to know some stuff :-)

So, v1.2 is o.k for remapping but i guess you mean you cant have antilag and stuff like that, but its perfectly good to remap a version 1/2 impreza if all you want is extra bhp/torque and a map to suit certain mods etc ?
In other words, is the v1.2a suitable for only a minor bhp gains and torque for my 1995 WRX, im only wanting to sweeten the car with its mods and gain a decent bhp/torque,not max it out with anti lag or launch control LOL
cheers

The early boards don't have a power limit, but if they are MAF based you can't switch to MAFless in software like the new boards, you would have to fit a Z32 or the like for a MAF based v1.2 for big power.
The software for the v1.2 boards is a bit clunky and now unsupported, so not guaranteed to work with Windows 7 on, the new stuff is streets ahead with proper windows integration, a very nice datalogger, etc etc.
Secondhand prices of ESL tend to be close to new prices (handy if you come to sell) so do take that into account, as well as the years warranty on a new board. (A new one is 295 ex VAT).

So what is the deal with V1.0 boards then Andy. Are they pre-programmed before installation to the customers requirements? Can you re-use these boards in other motors? How specific are the programmes for the various turbo, injector and induction variations? This thread is slowly turning out how I hoped. Share all your information oh wise one.
