Default Breaking MY00 UK Turbo Wagon - Good Engine & Gearbox (Scottish Borders)

Bit of a long shot this but if anyone wants to pick up a MY00 UK Turbo engine & gearbox from the Scottish borders (near Kelso) sometime 4th – 6th June please read on:

I am breaking my blue UK turbo wagon on/around these dates and anything I don’t want/need will be getting scrapped on Monday 6th June. I will be removing most replaced/uprated parts and either fitting to my STI or selling them. I have no use for the engine or gearbox and thus am willing to offer them up to anyone under two possible scenarios:

a) For free if you want/can take the whole shell away with you (there will be no wheels or suspension) – tricky!

b) You can make me an offer if you want to come and remove engine and/or gearbox on the driveway. I have neither the means nor inclination to do it myself!

If you’re in the area and are looking for either of the above (or anything else perhaps) – please let me know. The car has covered 98k miles and the engine/gearbox have no issues (can show service history) although the clutch is slipping. This was a really nice driving car unfortunately killed by rust as is often the case!

Other parts that I have no use for (and haven’t already offered to anyone) include the following:

- 4” x immaculate gold 16” 5-spoke Subaru wheels with Potenza RE050 tyres (wheels were refurbed a few years ago and the tyres have good life remaining)
- Ecutek – licensed ECU (was originally a PPP)
- Radiator and hoses (2 years old)
- Deautschwerks uprated fuel pump (2 years old)
- Suspension top mounts (2 years old)
- Original TD04 turbo
- Rear callipers (not sticking)
- All discs/pads
- All seats/interior

I realise it’s unlikely much of the above will appeal to anyone but just thought I’d ask the question in case someone local (ish?) happens to want/need anything. Other than the wheels/turbo I am not expecting much for anything – will just end up on eBay or scrapped otherwise.

will the front/rear arches match a 98 classic? edit: are they rusty?

When you say rust are we talking just the rear aches? Because 98,000 isn't that much miles.

Front arches will fit a 98 car although the NS one has a 5p sized area of damage where it looks like it's been pushed out if that makes sense. You'd be welcome to them for a pittance if you wanted to come and remove them! No rust (at least from what's visible!) PM if interested.

Rear arches, subframe and suspension turrets are rotten - mechanically (other than slipping clutch) the car was sound prior to failing it's MOT!

Wow i'm shocked thats alot of rust.

My 1999 2.0 sport had 120,000 miles no rust at all, rear arches were mint.

With hindsight the car spent its first 6 years on a farm and next 6 years by the sea. Looked fine when I bought it (I was a bit naive!) but turned out the rear arches had been filled previously. I used it as a daily and the arches started to rot before my very eyes!

I never realised it was anything more than a cosmetic issue so proceeded to spend a fair bit on maintenance and a few performance upgrades. Lesson learned!

I would be interested in your ecu and radiator.
Live not too far away so could pop across any time to see if there's other bits?

I'm not going to be there (it's my parents' place where the car is!) till the weekend of the 4th/5th June. If that suits you're welcome to come for those bits - drop me a PM if you want to discuss/arrange.

Hi. I'd be interested in the wheels. Could you put some pics up please, and how much are you looking for them? Thanks

Sorry for late response. TD04 gone I'm afraid.

The only major bits left are the gold 16" alloys. They're on Gumtree for £200 but will listen to offers.
