Smile Testing the water, 1996 WRX Wagon

I may be looking to sell my wifes runabout due to purchasing a 2004 STi for her.

It is a 1996 WRX 5 Door (wagon) finished in silver, bonnet vents and rear spoilers are painted in satin black.

The car is showing approximately 108k on the clock, I believe this is all in miles as I seem to remember some paperwork showing a conversion from KM when the car was imported ?

The MOT is until April 2014, only needed a drive shaft gaiter and a bulb to pass.

Tax runs out at the end of August.

The car has the facelift front end, 16" STi alloys (I painted them satin black !) 5mm minimum on all four tyres (Champiro budget brand)

It will need new rear discs and pads at some stage (rust on the discs) but does have the Subaru branded four pot front calipers fitted.

Appears to be fairly standard apart from Momo panel filter and stainless backbox.

The car drives very well and has not let us down in the time we have owned it, it does suffer from the characteristic 'piston slap' when cold but quietens down once warmed up.

There is some paperwork with the car for previous maintenance work but not a complete service history (it is 17 years old after all !)

The interior is in good condition with the original japanese carpet overmats (5 piece set) and no holes or tears in the upholstery, seats are the same bucket style as the saloon but in charcoal cloth with grey inserts.

There are various chips, parking dents and scratches on the car but no major corrosion.

The only problem at the moment is that the rear wiper has stopped working, may need a replacement motor or relay (I may sort this out before sale if I get the time)

Looking for £1000 or near offer given the long MOT, solid car for the year a little TLC would work wonders !

You can PM me for more info, let me have your email address if you want photos as I have no idea how to upload them !

I am based in Nelson (Lancashire) 2 minutes from the M65 motorway.

Not really, I collected the STi today and I still have my arch enemy (the 2002 WRX) in bits in the lockup.

Let me know what you have and how much you want for it ?

I have an 02 plate clio 1.4 16v 3 door with 94000 miles on clock, runs really well just had new plugs and coilpacks, mot till sept but will need taxing.

bad points are sunroof seal needs replacing, and damage to passenger side door where a coping stone was knocked off our garden wall and hit the car. Prob will want front discs and pads in near future but a good all round car.

looking for £750

I just remembered that it has a stainless steel centre section as well as the backbox.

Cheap, solid and practical WRX for someone with a long MOT as well !

I know how to fix the rear wiper, I think. This used to be my car. It's a good one. In several ways better than the W reg I have now. Importantly, no rust, unless it's started in the last year. Better build quality all round than the later facelifts.
