Default 1998 Black Type R, Simtek, VF34, 350bhp, RA roof vent

***SOLD***

I've decided to part with my 1998 Version 4 Type R as I've now got an EVO VIII MR.

This is my 3rd Impreza. I bought the car from another scoobynet member who freshly imported it in 2009, I am the second owner.

The mileage is all in KM (I've been using my sat nav to monitor speed limits) Mileage works out to about 68k miles.

I have full service history since I've owned the car but I've covered less than 2000 miles in my year of ownership, it sits in the garage most of the time as I don't have much time to drive it.

The cars bodywork is not in perfect show room condition. It is a 13 year old car so there is a few minor scuffs/marks here & there but in no way is there anything too serious to mention. It has the original engine (never had or needed a rebuild or replacement) There are no leaks or rattles & it has been well looked after. The car has wanted for nothing & is always garaged.

This is the 2 door Type R & comes with all the standard Type R goodies, DCCD, I/C water spray, close ratio gearbox ect... The car was standard when I bought it except for a Blitz NUR Spec R exhaust. Since then I have added...

Full true 3" HKS HI-Power exhaust including downpipe (the Blitz was just too loud with a full decat)
Simtek ECU
550cc injectors
VF34 Turbo
Forge Actuator
Walbro fuel pump
Apexi power intake
Front mount intercooler
Sytec fuel pressure regulator
New PFR7B plugs
New Gates timing belt plus tensioner & pulleys replaced.
New water pump
4 new Falken FK 452 tyres.
Tein S Tech lowering springs
Uprated drilled/grooved discs

I had the car remapped by Simon (Jolly Green Monster) Estimated power with above supporting mods is around 350bhp.

10/4/2011 oil & filter changed (Millers 10w40)

Cosmetically I have added the following...

18" Bronze Work Emotion wheels
Version 5 rear spoiler
Version 5 front grill
Darker crystal headlights/sidelights
Smoked front & side indicators.
Genuine RA roof vent
Blue D1 spec light weight wheel nuts

The car has a full MOT & one months tax left. It's locked away in my garage & isn't being used so the mileage isn't going to increase.

Price **SOLD**

You can contact me on 07900423784

To finish off then, this is a lot of car for very little money in my opinion. It performs extremely well & always impresses me when I do get a chance to drive it. The new owner will be extremely happy. Any inspection welcome but please do not waste my time. I'm not in any rush to sell. I have a new car already so please no part ex offers either, I'm not interested. I'm willing to take you out in it but you will not get to drive it yourself unless you have proof of insurance.

Cheers buddy.

Can't seem to find a buyer for it though. I'm not gonna budge on the price too much either, it's worth every penny IMHO & if I can't find a buyer for it then it gets put into the garage for a later date

Deep down I don't want to sell it but the missus has had her say

I'd say the Evo is a lot sharper, the turn in is quicker & tighter but saying that, the Evo has had 6 years development over the Type R. There's not much between them performance wise. Yes the Evo feels quicker (dyno'd at 403/415) but the fuel consumption of the Evo is something else

The gearbox in the Type R is significantly better than the 6 speed in the Evo. Makes the Type R an absolute joy to drive. I don't like the twin plate clutch in the Evo, sounds like a bag of spanners when you hold the clutch peddle in & it's started to slip & replacement exedy plates run me £700 .

I already miss the burble of the scoob but the 4 doors of the Evo makes getting my little girl in & out a whole lot easier. I may come back to Subaru if this Evo turns out to be too much of a money pit, which I know they can be.

2005 STI would be next on my list

& if you meant the difference between this & the Micra in the pics.... The Micra belongs to my neighbour

Pic of my Evo..

And one with my new wheels on...

It was great until the clutch started to slip, now it's just wasting it's power through slippage.

I'm not 100% sure but I think the MR stands for Mitsubishi Racing & comes with an aluminium roof, more aggressive cams & I'm sure some other bits that I don't know about. This has got BC 272 cams which are even more aggressive than standard MR cams. They give you that loping throb on tick over
