Default GAUGING INTEREST.....HIGH SPEC BLOBEYE STI 2.5-ENGINE PROBLEM

i am seeing if there is interest in my blobeye sti before it goes to a breakers or i break it myself

the car is showing a loss of 10% on cylinders 1-3 & 4 and a loss of 18% on number 2 via a leakdown test, the leak is not coming from the heads it is the piston rings. it should be 436bhp but it is only making 352bhp. it still runs/starts fine its just a tired engine now. the engine has around 25-30k on it it was built in 2008/2009 by zen performance.

here is a brief spec of the car and recent work carried out (i was getting ready for a remap/alcatek glad i found out 1st before i wasted my money on one)

2004 blobeye sti in 02c blue

car covered just shy of 100k

engine-

2.5 scdb
mahle 2018 pistons
carillo h-section rods
nitride crankshaft
acl race series bearings big and main
cosworth high volume 12mm oil pump
arp 11mm head studs
cosworth head gaskets
2.0 avcs heads
ceramic coated rcm headers
ceramic coated AET gt30 standard position turbo
3" full decat downpipe (hayward & scott)
3" custom de-resonated center section
afterburner raptor angled backbox

built and mapped @ zen

perrin stealth front mount intercooler (core freshly painted in high temp silver)
hyperflow top mount oil cooler with braided lines
3 port oil catch can with return to sump
inner wing induction kit
walbro fuel pump
power enterprise 650cc injectors
hks blow-off valve
turbosmart 3 port boost control valve
samco turbo inlet hose
lightweight pulley set
hyperflow maf housing
-ecutek map with 2 maps
recent rcm full timing belt kit with spec-c water pump, hks oil filter, front and rear crank oil seal all done within 1500 miles ago

6-speed box with new competition clutch stage 2 (fitted around 600 miles ago) and with fresh motul gear 300 oil and fuch's diff oil

new rear group n diff bushes with cradle from rcm (again only been on the car for 6 months or so)
group n modified gearbox mount

suspension-

bc coilover all round with rear adjusters,c-spanners etc. when i bought the car last november the rears were shot so i ordered 2 new complete units from ben @ apex, these were fitted in feb this year and have covered 2-3k

whiteline 24mm rear arb
whiteline klc139 drop links
whiteline kbr-20-24 heavy duty rear arb brackets
dc sports front strut brace

std brembos all round with pf pads and drilled/grooved discs all round and goodrich braided hoses

18x8.5 rota grid alloys in black (nearly mint-no curbing at all) new pirelli p-zero rubber 4k ago

Tracker fitted (need new subscription)

defi 3 gauge pod with oil temp/oil pressure/boost and defi controller mounted under heater vent

psi3 ecu data monitor

ht autos front splitter fitted start of summer this year

rallytech black mudflaps all round

de-tangoed headlights,i have not long had these polished up and they look awesome, they are fitted with H7 virtual daylight xenon conversion

in april this year i spent £700 on the body work including a front end re-spray and all chips touched in and the car looks awesome, its pretty much unmarked all over. i look after my cars so it gets washed weekly and polished as and when i have time every 3 months or so.

i drive with mechanical sympathy so its not been launched off the mark, thrashed from cold and i keep off boost on way home. the car has just completed a 500 mile trip around the east coast where it was faultless.to say im gutted about the lost compression is an understatment, i finally get the car looking and sounding how i want it and then i find out its losing compression.

there is no excessive oil loss,no knocking/tapping etc but there is a bit of smoke on high revs when on full boost.

its far from knacered BUT it is showing signs of wear, the car has pulled 352bhp @ thwaites this week and mark said it does pull strong (and the car really does move well)

i am the 3rd owner, i bought this off a midland scoobies member-i remember when he bought it i knew it was the car i wanted so i kept bugging him until he sold it to me lol

the graph from scoobyclinic shows 413bhp as the inlet temps were very high (middle of june last year) so they shut it down for safety reasons

im so surprised that this loss of compression has happened within 12 months but i guess thats the way it is. the car really is to good to break and turns heads everywhere it goes,it gets loads of positive compliments. it really is worth saving but i do not have the funds. i wouldnt hesitate to drive this anywhere as it really does drive great, the 2.5/gt30 combo is a match made in heaven,0 lag in any gear makes for a very fast road car.

the car has around 3 weeks mot left but i can get 12 months put on it no problem.

i am getting the car back next week so will put fresh pics ups then.

i have paperwork for everything mentioned above, the car has 2 keys with it

if i had the funds i would rebuild it and stick an alcatek on it but sadly overtime has been on the low this year and im saving for a house deposit

also the car could do with a proper fast road set-up

i really dont know what to ask price wise but the rules state i must put a price so i will ask £100,000 but obviously im open to sensible offers

the car is still taxed/mot'd/insured so i can take you out in it no problems

yeah it will be, im no mechanic so im unsure if some drop in pistons would work or if you could re-use the rods/crank etc

perhaps drop in an sti lump could be an option for the future owner

Sad to see dude, enquire if it's worth fixing first dude, at least when you've fixed it properly, you then know all the stuff that's been done and carry on.
Unless it's time to get a raw classic

Defo fixable, possibly with just a set of new piston rings using the existing pistons.
