I have recently purchased a bug eye STI and not to my taste the previous owner has applied the rally decals.

Basically they are in two colours, silver and blue. While the silver is not too bad to remove using heat from a hairdryer. The blue is an absolute nightmare and coming off in tiny bits.

Anyone got any suggestions??

 

odd, i'd have expected silver to cause you grief, perhaps it's really poor quality vynil, could try hot water with some fairy liquid in it and try and roll it off

 

Yeah probably one of those £30 job's on ebay......the blue is reflective stuff but it's so thin it comes off in tiny little pieces.....

 

Some sort of heat source heat gun hear dryer etc...to soften the glues and it should start to peel away just be patient and it will come off without taking your paint with it.SJ.

 

As above heat gun works a treat.....

 

nearly boiling water from a kettle trickled over them will soften them up and make them more plyable

 

Yeah cheers for the help guys. I am using a hair drier but the blue is very thin and comes off in tiny bits, very frustrating. Curse the person who installed them.

I have also been blessed with a carbon wrap bonnet, but that's another story :/

 

wd40 is good for removing glue too

 

Got a tin of that on hand actually going to tackle the rest after work!

 

Only use a heat gun if you are confident and know what you are doing. Otherwise hair dryer and patience is the ONLY way.

Once it is all off, suggest you give the car a clay bar treatment to remove all residue

 

Yeah I thought that tbh Tony. It's not the fact it won't come off, because it dose. It's only because the sticker is so thin it comes off in tiny pieces, unlike the silver which is more compliant.

I think I may have to accept it's going to give me a hard time and just man up.
