Default Spoiler removed but....

I've recently removed my old spoiler from my scooby. Removed it fine however the old owner of the car used double sided sticky tape or something as well as the screws to secure it, as a result there's a fair few marks left over from where the tape was. I've used boiling water and various cleaning liquids but nothing seems to work.

I've heard WD40 would be good for it but concerned it might take the paint off, does anyone out there have any suggestions or offer their assitance.

Cheers.

Dan

Wouldn't white spirit take the paint off too though as it's a kinda paint remover?

Ok, so potential silly question, do you spray the WD40 straight onto the affected area and wipe or do you spray it onto a cloth and do it that way? Very paranoid about doing more damage to the paint! lol

Spray directly and let it soak before wiping, I also used a car window ice scrapper to help remove sticky stuff

Acetone is what you need (similar to the nail polish remover) won't harm the paintwork either.

Just thought I might post some pics on how I got on today, still needs a couple more layers of T-Cut to totally remove the residue however all in all I don't think it look that bad!

Yeah I've got a few holes in the boot lid but my new spoiler should arrive sometime in the next 2 weeks. Just used electrical tape to cover the holes temporally, just incase it rains etc and I get a little lake in my boot overnight! Ot tidied it up because the new spoiler is a fair bit smaller

De-spoilering completely changes the look of the back end - I am not sure I like it, sorry!

I have to admit I'm not sure I like it either but it's only for a short time till the new spoiler arrives. I do like the debadging however, looks a lot better without the badges on
