Prep Before Spraying
Hey,
Can anyone help me with the best way to prep bodywork before i start spraying. I recently bought a gun and have the paints required but just wondered on the best way to rub down etc. Is there any good walk throughs or pictures. Thanks for your help

Takes longer than the spraying when done properly, but is the secret of a good finish
When I've done stuff, I first clean as well as possible. Then I inspect minutely and fill any dints, scrapes, holes, dings, whatever using Miliput 2-part epoxy resin. I put it on, smooth it wet, allow to dry and wet-or-dry it until it blends in.
Then I rough the whole surface with a Scotchbrite pad, finally cleaning off with paper towels impregnated with cellulose thinners.
Before spraying and even before the above, remove as much trim, bits, whatever, as you can so as NOT to have to mask. THAT is where the paint will flake, trust me

For rust, the only way to be sure it won't come back is to grind back to bare metal and fill.
If it's perforated the part, do both sides and seal the INSIDE with lots of spray underseal.

Take your time and don't rush. The above advice is good, make sure you have no shiney paint as the paint won't stick to it!
Panel wipe is better that using thinners and just before you spray go over with a tak rag to pick up any dust or bits.
Good prep is the key to a good finish!
