Default Is my bonnet facelift or pre-facelift?!

Hi guys, I have a P reg Type R with a pre-facelift front bumper. I've just bought a facelift bumper and 3d grill to give the front a complete facelift and I also bought a set of facelift crystal headlights. Now I've just read that for this all to fit I need a facelift bonnet? Is that true? And if it is how can I tell if my existing bonnet will fit or not?

The front bumper would automatically say to me it should be a pre-facelift bonnet I have but mine definitely looks different to some other pre-facelift ones I've seen?

You have already got the face lift bonnet lights and grill mate. Classic had the face lifted bonnet, grill and headlights but the pre-facelift bumper from 1997 to 1998.

Get a facelift bumper and it will look the same as an MY99 on

You actually have a facelift 99> Bonnet and grill
Headlights are not facelift see below for facelift MY99 car for differences

The grille in the OP's picture is NOT 99/00 spec.

It's doesn't lap over the bumper, as Ciaran's does.

Correct, the grille is the 97/98 version, by far the nicest

Mickey you beat me to it.
There are two facelift grilles. You have the earlier MY97/98 facelift grill. Your bonnet is already facelift!
The headlamps look like early facelift headlamps (same shape as my99/00 but non crystal)

To complete the full facelift all you will need are facelift headlights (crystal type), My99/00 Grill, My99/00 bumper, and My99/00 fogs (crystal type) or covers.

awesome thanks for all the info guys!

I have a facelift bumper and the overlapping grill to go with it. I have the foglight covers and the crystal lights so I do believe from what you've all said that I'm good to go!

All good pal

To be honest it was a tricky decision to make going facelift and I'll probably keep my originals just in case!
