Default Paint protection film or strap on autobra

I've a 2007 Spec C and am considering getting some form of stone chip protection on the hood, bumper and side sills.

Any of you fellas have some kind of clear paint protection film applied? like these: http://www.xpel.com/products/paint_protection_kits.asp

How does it last? Any issues after some time when peeling off? I don't want to take off the paint when i peel it off a few years later. I might get autobra, but want something more subtle.

Spec C owners, other than mudflaps and STI side skirts, are there any other ways of protecting the side sills? Or did you guys managed to get away with nothing? Does the stones damage the sills with time without mudflaps?
