Default Bored ? bug-eye to hawk-eye conversion ?

Well after being told that a hawk-eye estate is £425 a year to tax !

Should I join the hawk-eye gang ?

Does anyone have a clue how much the :-

Wings
Headlights
Bonnet - sport no scoop £170
Bumper
Scoop
Splitter

Will cost ?

Leaving me with two wings, an alloy bonnet with STI scoop, a pair of bug-eye STI headlights and a Prodrive front bumper with covers and Prodrive driving lamp kit with Hella 1000FF's retro fitted with HID's....

So votes please, a newer looking car on cheap VEL, or leave her alone ?

TIA

I take it you were considering buying a hawkeye until you investigated the Taxing class? So is it double to tax a hawkeye over the bugeye?

Near enough, and as you know mine goes well enough ( for me ! )....

I only do about 6500 miles a year so double would choke me.

Just feel a "freshen up" would put a smile back on my face.

i have and love a bug BUT do think the hawk eye would be my next choice so id say go for it.im sure a shop around will get you bargain bits.

if you do and you post a pic it might persuade others (me) to do it lol.

I accept full responsibility for having a good looking car

Why not take my front bumper off tomorrow and gaffer it to the front of yours for a day. See how it makes you feel?

Yeh Dunx get it gaffer taped on and then spray it black

Just a thought though, What are the cost implications outside of the Project cost, ie Insurance?, and if you bolting on parts that are not OEM for that car/year does it need to be checked over by Vehicle accessor

I have an old Renault Alpine A310 that needs restoring, however as the car has been off the road now around 15years i need to put the car back to full Renault and get it passed by the ministery as what it should be, or I need to declare the car as a Kit 'Q Plate' . Not a chance. The car was running with a BDA engine and Lotus Europa running gear.....

But blobs are ugly, the hawk is a bit of a looker and much more up-to-date

I agree, I have one

Just the Hawk conversion involves more 'adjustment' I believe due to the longer bonnet/frontage. Blob is just a swap over of OEM parts

All depends on how much of a distraction you need then doesn't it - could always go to the next stage

TBH it's a backlash from the stoopid VEL levied on the (later) hawkeye WRX....

Blob is a shocker IMHO.... I'd rather have a bug-eye sport than any blob-eye !

Opps ! Controversial....

dunx

P.S. The major part of the budget would come from disposing of my Prodrive bits....

Find some second hand headlights first, as they are the most expensive parts, circa £750 ish each from Subaru...

The other parts, even new, are reasonable money.

Oi!

I vote do it. Hawkeye's are gorgeous. And as for buying a Hawkeye, if it's registered after March 2006, the tax is just daft!

Any other time i would say yeah go fit it mate

But in the light your car is in such good nick, modified just right and one of the best BUGEYE STIs out there i would be inclined to say no keep it as it is, its a credit to you like it is now and looks the nuts

Although if you do change it let me know i might be interested in the lights lol

NO NO NO , keep it as it is !!!!!
