Default Wagon Roof Rails - Removal??

Wagoneers. Any ideas???

Just noticed some later wagons don't have the "carry handles" on the roof. Is it possible to remove them from a bugeye, if so how?

I see "Granby" did it but couldn't see how he got them off? Do you have to remove the roof liner?

A bit more digging and somebody on another Forum came up with this. Very useful for Wagoneers.

Looks a bit daunting so I've not had a go yet. They do look better without though. "Granby" on here did it to a Silver wagon.

Thats an interesting read but whats needed to cover the holes left? I suspect that the whole black section needs to be replaced?
