Default Ariel on a classic

How easy is it to remove the ariel from the outside of the door and reroute it in the top of the door?

I think it looks hidious and it would be such a simple mod.

Thanks

I did this years ago on a vauxhall when the bee-sting aerial was the look. It can be a bit fiddly routing the cable through the roof lining, and you need to take car when drilling the hole in the roof - start small and gradually increase the size otherwise the drill can snag and buckle the roof.

The only other issue I had was signal loss through the longer cable and the radio wouldn't pick up as many stations. I ended up buying an amplified aerial and running a power feed (from the stereo switching signal) to get any decent reception.

The only other issue, is what to do with the holes left in your a-pillar

I was thinking about rather then having it out in the open on the door re route the hard wire along inside the door frame and then fill the hole and spray over the hole.

You'd be better trying to integrate it into the front or rear windscreen. If you bury it behind metal you'll have problems with signal reception.

If the car is a metallic then feathering the paint on a small repair like that will not be easy, if it is a flat colour it won't be so hard.
