Default STI 8 Spoiler

I have a genuine STI 8 spoiler in my shed that I'm getting ready to fit. As you know there are millions of bolts on it compared to the standard WRX one which I have on just now.

I have an old STI bootlid from which I have taken an accurate template and am fully prepared to go and drill my own boot. Just a thought, but if I used the 4 original bolts on the STI spoiler that match the WRX ones, could I not just use some sticky stuff to secure the edges and middle? I'm a bit scared to drill incase I **** it up.

The OEM sti spoiler weighs a ton compared to the copies.....it came with extra torsion bars to keep the boot open. If you are putting it on a WRX you might find the boot closes on its own LOL.

Personally I'd drill the extra holes and make sure they are well sealed against rust.

ALL IMHO.

Did you drill the holes like on the STI lid? They are enlongated, kinda oval shaped so the position of the spoiler can be adjusted. I have made up some penny washers from a piece of inner tube so hopefully this will help seal it, thinking of using a wee drop of silicone too.

hey bud what i did was put little rivets upside down on my teplate and pushed it on this gave me were i need to mark on bootlid, the 4 holes were the wrx one goes fitted in 4 of the new spoiler so i bolted the template to the bootlid and marked all the holes, drilled and enlongated them, i then offered the spoiler on and did any adjustments but was pretty much perfect, then i put some stuff round the new holes to stop any rust, i then ran a line of clear silcon right around the edge just to create a good seal, then bolted the it on job done looks stunning and no problems

Got the spoiler put on this morning and I don't know what I was worried about, apart from drilling holes in my nice shiney boot lid! I put the template I made on then some masking tape onto the paintwork so I could mark out the holes. Then started drilling. A couple of the holes had to be filed a wee bit just to make them slightly better. As well as the rubber washers I made I also sealed round the holes with a fancy sealer I found at work. Seemed to do the trick. Just a shame my new wheels aren't here yet as they would be on too. I may have to cancel the order cos moneys gona be a bit tight in the coming months. Anyway heres a few pics, sorry about the **** quality, I never knew till I got home the camera was on a low setting.

This one I did a wee while ago. The spoiler has been photoshopped on (no need now!) but it gives you the idea with the wheels I've ordered. Think it looks sweet.

Cheers, but I have my brother to thank for that. He's a wizz with photoshop, he uses it every day at work. He's a Graphic Designer.

The wheels are Dare Drift RS, very similar to the Advan RS and the Rota Force rims. Can't afford the Advans and can't find the Rotas to fit, so Dare are the next best thing.
