Depends on the materials used.
There are UV resistant resins (stops discolouration after long exposure to sunlight), there are heat resistant resins, there are water resistant resins and there are cheap resins. If you buy from a reputable supplier with a conscience they will use heat and UV resistant resin. Others chasing a short term profit will use a cheap and cheerful resin with the above results.
So don't knock carbon products full stop, just name and shame the supplier of these particular products.

the only way to restore your faded bonnet is to completly sand down all the resin untill you are down to the raw fibre. then it will need to have 3 coats of laquer and then flatted down and another 3 coats. then flatted again and a further 3 coats. then flatted and polished. it will look like new and will never fade again because good laquer is uv resistant.
