Upgrade front end!
Hey folks. I have just recently bought a 1995 1.6 fwd saloon Impreza... Lol Yeah I no 88bhp but hey I love Impreza's and this one is insurable.
Thing is I would like to upgrade the front end from (pre facelift) to the 1998-2000 front.
Does this involve new bonnet, grille, headlights, bumper and also Wings too?
I would quite like a turbo look but am completely unsure of what to do!!
Can anyone help me out???
P.S found this site cityautosalvage.co.uk would this be best for parts?
Any input much appreciated folks. Thanks
David

Hi Mate
I know a few people who have done this to thier cars, you will need the following
New Bonnet (also scoop and vents if you want a turbo look)
New headlights/sidelights
New grille
New Bumper
New front indicators
Fog Lights
You will have to adjust the mounting brackets for the front bumper, but this, as far as i am aware, is a nothing job.
Also, you wont be able to have fully functioning front fogs as in Sports/Turbos etc we have controls inside the cabin to use them, so you would either have to wire them up to an aftermarket switch or have them wired into your headlight loom somehow???
You wont need new wings as the only difference between the 2 models at the front are the parts listed above.
Hope that helps

Agree with the above, but wiring foglights ought not to present a problem, even using a SIMILAR looking rocker switch to the original. Switches can be had from Vehicle Wiring Products
Try GradeA at Hayfield in the High Peak for parts, too.
If you want foglights, make me an offer for a nearly new pair of crystal ones. P&P would be around a tenner. They are going on e-bay after Easter anyway. Also my 98 non-crystal headlights, and standard indicators.

Actually, yeah, i never thought of that. There will probably be enough 'blanked' switches in the cabin to be able to pick one, find a switch from a breakers or somewhere (i am sure there is a breakers somewhere with some Subaru cabin rocker switches up for grabs) and away you go.
Also, i dont know if you will need new sidelights thinking about it, as i beleive it is just the actual headlights that are sqaurer.
