Default MY06 Front Lip

After a few weeks wait I have finally received my front lip from Revolution today.

Unpacked it and included is fitting kit that consists of some cups and screws but no instructions.

Took a look under the car and there are 5 plastic plugs that hold under tray to front bumper and these align with holes on the front lip however the holes on the lip are too small for these original palstic plugs to slot through.

Has anyone fitted one of these and did you get instructions etc..

Appreciate any tips too. Cheers

Just about to post a thread on the exact same topic.

Got a pack of screws and cups but no fitting instructions. Fair enough i thought, looks simple the large holes line up with the plastic clips already in the bumper. Took them out and WTF the clips don't fit through the lip as the holes are too small . Am i missing something here, or are we supposed to be mind readers to fit this thing. I'm not going to start drilling out the holes in the lip to suit, this should be done before leaving teh factor if this is how it should fit. Or is there some new smaller clips that should be in the 'fitting' kit.

I'm annoyed firstly at the wait, secondly as there are no instructions and third becasue i think the finish is pretty bad to be honest. I wanted to fit it without colour coding and this is how most of the Scott Lowe ones are fitted but to fit this to a brand new car brings the rest of the car down. Are the Scott Lowe ones any better?

Let me know what they say Neil, if i get time i'll ring them also.

I've always liked Revolution, hopefully we can get this sorted and it won't affect my perception of them.

The drilling doesn't bother me, as the lip will be fixed to the car by the lugs which are intended for use with the clips allready on the car. So it will be positioned correctly so a few holes through the very soft bumper at the bottom will not show come trade in time....

Already drilled the car to fit some mudflaps, whats a few more holes

Just got to work out how to use the standard clips as the lip holes are too small

Default MY06 Front Lip

Hi Guys

Thanks for the responses to the front lip spoilers that you guys have recently received, would have been nice to have had a phone call to ourselves before it was posted all over the web, never mind we appreciate all feedback be it good or bad.
At least you all know our customer service 2nd to none and everything will get sorted out.

Also nice to see that everyone failed to mention the fact that the 1st 10 orders got £26.50 off our price PLUS a £5.00 gift voucher for the delay.....not having a go, just stating the facts.
We were way behind on the delivery of our first batch as we wanted to get it right 1st time, sounds like weve failed a few of you, sorry for that.

The fitting instructions werent included as we feel it couldnt be any easier, (dont think you need to be mind readers as someone suggested -LOL).
It is the first batch weve had from our manufacturers and after we had the final test through last week which fitted perfectly - we assumed that they would have got them all right, as to why they changed the hole size we cant explain, human error I guess.

Can you call us and explain the problems with the finish???

It is styled on the original STI one which is around 4 x the cost (circa £500) and that one also needs drilling, we couldn't see a way of fixing the front lip without the aid of drilling.

Can you all please get in touch via telephone on 0191 4770785 and we'll sort out any problems you have.

Regards

It was me that stated about being a mind reader.... the thing doesn't fit the car, i have no instructions how else am i supposed to know how it fits?? Should i have i presumed a manufacturing fault?? Agreed, if it was manufactured correctly fitting would be very very simply, but it DIDN'T fit.

It's also very hard to call last night as you are closed. After waiting over two weeks after payment was taken, it arrives and doesn't fit you would expect a little anger to be vented off.... Granted the discount is the reason i didn't wait for a Scott Lowe version. Maybe his would have fit tho.

Regarding the finish, mine looks brushed on with little streaks. There is what seems to be dust in the paint, and it's slightly dimpled in places. Obviosuly being at the bottom of the bumper it will get some abuse so waht look like new for long but a smooth finish would have been nice. If i wipe that down with a cloth it catches on the raised bits.....

So it seems i now have to drill out the holes, any guidance on size (i'll obviosuly measure the plastic clips). I shall ring if i damage the finish or crack the lugs. If not i'll post a pic of it fitted..... i'll resurve judgment on its quality until its fitted.

Tony.

PS does the revolution badge come off easily?

Tony

All of the front spoilers were visually checked before dispatch.
However if yours has imperfections in the finish we will gladly have it back and supply you with a brand new one which we will also have the correct sizes of holes drilled.

As we speak we are working on some instructions.
Colin has rang your mobile and left a message for you. Please PM a different contact number if possible so we can try and sort this out quicker.

Ok guys... it's now fitted. Having waited long enough for it i couldn't wait to sort out a new one.

First the holes, i used a 10mm bit to open up the existing. This did 3 holes nice and easy, the fourth was a little closer to the end and as such snapped a bit off (this can't be seen when fitted due to the size of the clip over it). Once drilled i fitted it with the 4 clips, it needed a bit of bending but all 4 went in. Next i drilled the holes for the self tappers.... don't be put of by this, the bumper is made of chocolate and is very easy to drill and obviously with the lip already on the car using the 4 standard clips you know exactly where to drill Fitting took all of 15 mins and i must say i'm very pleased with the fit of it to the bumper. It follows the bumpers lines very nicely with no gaps at all .

In terms of the finish, it looks great on the car. Maybe i'm just being a bit of a nit pic? I'd need to see close ups of other lips to be certain.

So here's the pics (excuse the dirt)

My wife gave me the message, just tried ringing a few times but engaged. Must say i'm happy now its on the car finally but if you'd like to give a discount on a rear STi window spoiler then please do . I'll post pics in the members gallery too and if you need any for the website (when i've cleaned the car) just let me know.

Thanks for all the help,

Tony.

Tony

That looks great, cant wait to get home and get mine fitted.

With regard to drilling the holes for the screws - did you have to jack up the car to get the drill under?

Yep, that was the bit that took the longest actually. Was going to put it on axle stands but just jacked one side up, drilled, then did the other side. Think i used a 3mm bit for the self tapers. If my drill was a touch smaller (the battery at the bottom got in the way) or if it wasn't on prodrive springs i may have got away with out jacking it up. Makes screwing it in easier tho.

One thing i would note (and may be worth putting this in the instruction) don't over tighten the self tapers. As i said above the bumper is made of chocolate and if you tighten them too much it will just pull the screw through!

Let me know how you get on

Tony.

Default Revolution made me happy!!!!!!

Hi Tony

Glad it all went okay, maybe we could upload your pics on our website if you dont mind.
How about we do a step by step picture guide as to how to fit one then anyone who's unsure can always look online when fitting - even after we close.

It looks really good fitted (as we expected) and sorry to anyone who got confused of the fitting but as Tony stated, once the main clips are in....its a doddle and very straight forward.

We will do you a cracking deal on a spoiler, just PM us as of which one you want and we'll do the rest.

Regards

No problem at all up loading the pics... i will be cleaning the car when the sun goes down later so i can e-mail you some high res ones if you like (just let me know which e-mail address you want them sending to).

Fitting is a total doddle, it's just with no instructions and incorrect hole sizes it caused confusion as to whether new clips were missing, larger holes required etc. If somebody has problems fitting a lip with the correct holes i wouldn't let them near a drill (or any other tools) as they'd most likely injure themselves It really is that easy to fit.

And yep, Revolution did make me happy... there's always a happy ending on Scoobynet

Tony.

PS I'll PM the spoiler i'm looking at later (replica STi roof spoiler... £109.99) Not sure if it would look a bit over the top on my WRX tho .

Mine is now fitted, drilled out holes with 10mm bit (Thanks Tony) and had it fitted in approx 30 mins, very easy and fits very well indeed.

Cheers to the guys at Revolution for all their help!!
