Question

I'm in the process of removing the number plate in favour of a stick-on one for my MY98. I've removed the plate, but the bracket behind is attached to the bumper with two bolts with strange heads. They look like TORX heads (ie 6 pointed star) but with a raised stud in the centre. I don't have a tool to remove them, does anyone know where I can get one ? Halfords ? Any other suggestions ? I don't really want to break it off as I may want to re-attach in the future.

Cheers,

Tony

These are tamper proof torx.
Snap-on sell the bits, I would think that other good quality tool manufacturers would also.

Screwfix do a set for about a tenner but you would have to pay a fiver postage.

If youre only going to take it off the once why not pop into your local friendly garage and ask them to remove it, even if you gave the mechanic a fiver it would be cheaper/quicker and easier than having to buy special tools.
