Question

Well, if they're supposed to let in air, I'd have thought that they'd let in water, too?
Mine have a little hole at the bottom, which seems to direct any water that enters, away from the ignition, etc.

Are they not there to let hot air out?

I was under the impression that for homologation purposes they were put on the road cars and as such don't do a great deal (Apart from look cool ) but on the rally cars they aid under bonnet ventilation.

What the **** do i know

I have got both of mine open all year round.

when sitting in trafic you can see the heat escaping.

getting rid of hot air can only be good for the engine
