Because the widebody Impreza WRX/WRX STI continued in production until 2014 whereas the"base model" Impreza was a new model for 2012 onwards........

This was the beginning of the divergence between the Impreza and WRX STI production lines leading to the 2015 WRX/WRX STI

The answer to your question is "maybe" the listing that says yes got their compatibility chart wrong not realising the new base model came out in 2012 , who knows unless you ask.
