Hi guys,


was wondering if anyone would have some pictures or information about the factory decals/stickers and badges for 98 gc8.


as the previous owner of my gc8 changed the spoiler from the short small factory one (at least im pretty sure that's what was on it) to the 99-00 spoiler (as well as the front bumper) and im trying to take it back to stock "as it rolled off the production line".


the boot has nothing on it. I know it would of had the "SUBARU" letter badges in the center of it, but what "wrx" sticker would it of had? the small one that was in the left hand corner? also, did the had a "AWD" badge below the right hand tail light?


cant seem to find many pictures on google

Personally I don't know much about the Australian Impreza,hopefully some of the more knowledgeable members will be along with the info.
Do the AU cars have the 2.0ltr turbo engine or are they N/A similar to US cars?
Can you post up the applied model code as this also might help to find out exactly what model you have.

Our setups are pretty much the same as Japan so yeah, 2.0L turbo (ej20g).
You guys get much the same yeah?
That's the biggest problem I've found is there's so many changes across the country's.

 

My tag is gc8f, 7/98.
A few mates thought it was my99, but the my99 got 4 pot front brakes, ej205 engine etc, plus previous owner changed the front bumper to a 99-00 one.

 

What ecu are you currently running?

 

Nah,UK get subtle version of the Impreza compared to the JDM.
GC8F would mean it is an MY99

 

It does look really nice, love the facelift bumper.

Whats badges are you missing? If you check out Rich's Profile picture that has a rear WRX sticker on it.

 

AuDM's (Destination code KA) have a few differences to UK cars but are pretty similar and will have a combination of the following, depending upon model year and grade.

 

It is more than likely a MY98 as the Australian models use the same 17 digit VIN and production dates as UK/European cars.

 

AUTOWEEK: I will check when I get home but I think it had 8S written on it. it runs a unichip ecu piggy back being the early no tuneable ecu.


OSSETT: yeah I thought it was too, but after comparing everything on mine to a mates my99 everything is different.

Hi Ben, i think it was only the Type R that had the rear side stickers. And if you have the 8S ecu then thats the same as the UK ecu. As i have an 8S on mine.

I'd go with JDM stickers. Don't see many with them now.

 

Funnily enough spoke to the original owner a while back, and last night he sent me through this.


Said that was around early 2000

 

Looks nice, looks similar to the JDM WRX rear sticker.





You could also go for JDM WRX STI

 

Looking at it, the WRX badge doesn't fit in with the "SUBARU" badging and is definintely aftermarket. It also has the early STi high level spoiler rather than the original low level one as shown below.

However..

 

I think he basically has the AU version of our UK 2000 turbo. You can tell the rear spoiler looks fibre glass.

If you want a rear sticker i'd go JDM.
