Default What colour to paint STi splitter?

Hi all,

Just been given a Splitter off a mates RB320. he scuffed it and fitted a new one instead of having it sprayed. he is now selling the car so is no longer needed. he has kindly given it to me to fit to my hawk wagon

Now the issue is my car is black with black prodrive wheels and blacked out windows. As it will need to respray I cannot decide on a colour. I am not going for a garish STi Pink or Red etc. I want to be more subtle. I was thinking plain gloss black but will it stick out a bit too much on a Metallic black car? Matte Black is tempting to break it up a little but need a flexible paint.
Any suggestions?

thanks,
Fuzz

Carbon fibre wrap, or try and match the black as best as you can.

Get some satin black from Hell-frauds. Had to sand & re-spray mine so many times after scuffing, knocking off etc. Still looks like new!

HT-Auto always advertise the front hawk saloon splitter as different to the estate front splitter. Can's see what is different and never found out myself. Hope yours fits ok.

There is a difference in width. The saloons have a wider front bumper. But just test fit it see how it looks before you spray it mate.
I got a wagon specific one and fitted a treat

Cheers for the quick replies guys. I was unaware there were differences between the front bumpers.. I will get under it and check the fitment tonight before I bother doing any spraying etc.

Carbon wrap is not an option in my book. If it were a carbon splitter that would be different.

I have seen this paint http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/s...egoryId_165495
and was going to go with that as I have read it works well on polyurethane fairly well.

I guess worst case I can put splitter it on eBay or sell on here.

Will update when tested fitting.

No point buying flexible paint, use this:

http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/s...egoryId_165505

Works perfect, never primed always just sprayed straight on the splitter, so simple! Will look like new.

Have tried other paints, satin lacquers etc and non work as well as the above paint.

I also used the basic Hell-frauds satin black to spray my HT Autos rear fibreglass spats and they matched the original splitter colour spot on!

If it doesn't work out there is a guy on scottish scoobies he has one. He bought it thinking it was for a saloon.
Worth a shout!

I can indeed confirm the Hawkeye STi/RB320 front splitter does NOT fit the Hawkeye Wagon it is a good bit different. Glad I posted my question now.

Wouldn't make any difference. not only is it longer into the wheel arches but there is a gap at the front where the splitter meets the bumper you can get your fingers through.
Also it does not look to protrude far from the face of the bumper. much less than when fitted to my mates RB
Not worth the time and effort to modify it.
