Yeah United are undoubtedly weaker although I feel if they get Hargreaves back 100% fit and the same with Brown those will be two welcome assets to the team that they didn't have last season.
United's strength is the squad with 4 or so top players within it.

We are weaker as lost Adebayor...........BUT
we have Rosicky and Eduardo back fit. both are class players. Id rather have Eduardo then 20 Adebayors. Nasri injured but Rosicky will take place.
im really hoping both players can be same player again.
BUY a defensive midfielder and i'll be super happy

Of course it has. The cheat and the spiv have gone, but no ManUre fan is gonna admit they aren't the strongest, or as strong as before.
LOL, we'll see when the season starts
Oh fek, what am I doing? Discussing the stupid "Football Manager on your Game Boy" prem

The same as when Ruud V N left, people step up to the plate different players come in and i have no doubt in my mind that we'll score more goals than last year, with Rooney and Indeed Berbatov scoring more goals now their the focus of attack, And don't forget Owen will score his fair share.
Most teams go backwards after their best player leaves but over the years we've proved we become stronger overall.
Its obvious to think we're weaker, do i think we are? remains to be seen but as some say let the season start and then we'll see

The reason why i think we will be better is down to the fact that we played around Ronaldo and last season when he wasnt playing his best we were struggling getting a lot of 1-0 when we should have really been 3 up plus the fact he never tracked back <that used really bug me! plus we will have in owen a predator, when he see's us breaking he will run unlike berba who just minces about the midfield.
Now Tevez, he was a crouds favourite but he didnt fit into the united mould very well he was loved because he give 100% every single minute he was on the pitch but really can anyone say he is really worth 25 mill, i cant and im sorry to say he will get abused when he comes back to OT and i have a feeling he thinks because we loved him so much it will overshadow the move haha i cant wait for the derby.
i usually cba replying properly on this forum but im bored

Although I genuinely feel that it will allow others to play a bit more now he has gone, no one will be thinking OK I'd better fill that hole he's just created by going off on another run and not tracking back, I think we'll go back to 4-4-2 formation and we may actually score more goals this season.
But hey what do I know

From what I've seen of him pre-season so far (even playing left back) he's far better pushing forward and delivering crosses than Arby; much more composed when defending too. Saying that Arby started off in the same manner when he joined; but now sits too deep.

Here's my thoughts on the top Premier League teams using their major summer transfer activity as evidence. I know that injuries may help/hinder teams (such as Rosicky & Nasri at Arsenal), but based purely on the current squads this is how I see it.
Arsenal.
IN: Vermaelen
OUT: Adebayor
= WEAKER
Aston Villa.
IN: Downing
OUT: Barry
= (slightly) WEAKER
Chelsea.
IN: Zhirkov + Sturridge
OUT: no-one
= STRONGER
Everton.
IN: no-one (of any note)
OUT: no-one (of any note)
= SAME
Liverpool.
IN: Johnson
OUT: Hyypia + Pennant
= SAME
Man City.
IN: Tevez + Santa Cruz + Adebayor + Barry
OUT: Sturridge + Vassell ()
= STRONGER
Man Utd.
IN: Valencia + Owen
OUT: Ronaldo + Tevez + Campbell ()
= WEAKER
Tottenham
IN: no-one (of any note)
OUT: Zokora + Gunter
= WEAKER
So I reckon that 4 of the top 8 clubs currently have weaker squads than 2008-2009. On that basis, Chelsea may well overhaul Man Utd and Liverpool in 2009-2010 to take the Championship and Man City may well overtake Tottenham, Villa and Everton and be snapping at Arsenal's heels for the 4th place spot in 2009-2010.
Of course there's still a few weeks left for all of this to change!

Hard to say with us, we have some decent players & i think having a decent manager in Bruce will make a fair bit difference.
Our main problems are up front, Cisse was one of our best players last season. Well at the start of the season anyway, not making his loan move perm has definitely weakened our squad.
Badly need another striker to partner Jones. We have sold a few other fringe players & released a couple too.
Hopefully things will change before the start of the season and we will being a few players in. Might be starting today with this Loric Cana bloke who looks a bit of a beast.

I am not one to start threads on the Mags but whilst in the Championship today I was talking to a friend of mine who had a connection in the executive side of the Mags. Following the relegation this guy lost his position but he was a member of the boardroom and also has ties to Shearer which are legit.
Anyways, we talked football and the conversation turned to the Mags' current predicament. Apparently the only reason why they haven't sold the likes of Martins, Beye and company is that there is nobody at the club on the executive side to deal with transfers. So a club could fax an offer for a player but that offer will not be acknowledged because there is nobody at the club running that side of things.
Also said that it took so long between Kinnear's heart problem and the hiring of Shearer because it was discussed straight away in the boardroom to bring Shearer in but nobody and he quoted "got around to" talking with Shearer for 2 months or whatever it was.
Michael Owen also refused to play in the reserve team to regain fitness and saw reserve football as beneath him.
Make of it what you want but I've known this lad for years and know how he has said connections. Very pessimistic when laying the law down to another Mag who was there when saying this is Leeds II and things would get a lot worse before they got better unless some billionaire took Ashley up on his offer. Also said that Ashley has lost all interest in the club, couldn't care less what happens as long as he gets his £100 million and doubts that Ashley will get it because people know he is in no position to bargain hence the £60 million bidding. His connection also said it was highly unlikely that Ashley would sell back to Shepherd due to dislike and pride.
Take it for what you will....

Don't know how the hell we have managed to bring this Loric Cana bloke to Sunderland.
Absolute bargain especially considering we only paid about £5 million for him & received nearly that much back from Stoke for Dean Whitehead.
Its weird for years we had no money, then Keane wasted a fortune on mediocre players. Now we have Bruce with more money than ever & hes finding some bargains of far superior quality than we have previously had.
Just need a decent striker to partner Jones now.
