More of the same from Hill-Wood/Wenger
Sky Sports | Football | Premier League | News | Hill-Wood - Wenger will stay
More of the same out of touch boll0cks from Hill-Wood. Him and Wenger are as out of touch as each other with the reality of how bad we are compared to Man Utd. Just how many years of winning nothing is it going to take before Hill Wood understands where the shareholders and fans are coming from?
As far as I can see all Hill-Wood is interested in is qualifying for the Champions League each season and spending as little cash as possible
Sell that lazy useless **** Adebeyor to Milan for starters and get a World class striker up front and then rebuild the central defence and central midfield and then we might just have a chance of challenging for trophies again. About as much chance of that happening as me winning the lottery this weekend
http://www.skysports.com/story/0,195...327167,00.html
Christ almighty he just doesn't get it does he?! Yes Man Utd are the best in the World but 5 years ago we were as good if not better at times. They have not just remained as good but improved where as we have gone drastically down hill through Arsenal selling off the crown jewels in the likes of Vieria, Henry and Gilberto and not replacing them with other World class players. Other teams have caught up and gone streaks ahead such as Chelsea and Liverpool but Wenger just can not see this and I thought he was supposed to be highly intelligent As for saying Utd have 10 times more resources he is just again talking cr4p, we have Kroenke and Usmanov as major shareholders/owners of the club both of who are multi billionaires

I liked this bit from Wenger's interview:
"It is not like we have lost against Cardiff - it is not as though we have lost to a nobody."
Move over Anne Robinson, it's Arsene's time to be Wales' Public Enemy No.1!
By the way, he may not have lost to Cardiff this season, but he did manage to lose to Hull, Stoke and Burnley!

I wouldn't waste your tenner, Wenger has never broken an employment contract and is on record as saying he never will. He could well be off in 2011 when his contract expires though, if he doesn't win a trophy in the next 2 years I would say he will certainly go.

Are you for real
Thanks to Wenger Arsenal have one of the best stadiums in Europe, a squad of players who all know how to play great football, and an excellent youth programme
And still you ungrateful b4st4rds are clamouring for his head on a pole
It always amazes me how short some football 'fans' memories are, Vieira, Henry, Gilberto, Anelka, etc all became great players while they were at Arsenal, under Wenger, and what exactly have any of them done since leaving (Henry & Anelka excepted)
Apart from maybe missing a top quality defensive midfield player* to break down the more negative sides they come up against , I couldn't see anything wrong with the Arsenal that came to Anfield last month, some of the football they played that night was breathtaking

Yes I am for real (and you can drop the insults ) and obviously so are a lot of other fans from what has been shouted during matches and said by shareholders.
Playing pretty football is all very nice but it has won nothing for 4 years. We were as good as Man Utd in the early part of this decade and better when we won our titles. We now can not win anything and this is due to Wenger's insistence on youth instead of proven experience.
And your point is about Henry and Vieira is? Both were experienced players playing at big clubs when Arsenal bought them. Bergkamp was already known as a huge talent and Ajax's greatest ever product when Bruce Rioch bought him. We have bought experience before and it worked and tey developed into some of the greatest players of their time. Since letting those players leave or selling them on and replacing with inexperienced youth that policy has not worked and we have won nothing.
You obviously can't see the difference between the team we have now and the team we had in 2003/2004 which were the Invincibles. There is such a huge gap it's a ******* great chasm.
So my point is that Wenger is responsible for letting the team fall so far behind Utd in the last 5 years. His policies are to blame and there is no other benchmark for us as a team than beating Man Utd over a season. Finishing 4th is no good, getting back to where we were in 2003/2004 is what is expected and Wenger is not doing that. Until we win the Premiership again and can beat Man Utd then Wenger is not doing what is required. Youth with little or no experience will never get us there. Man Utd have succeeded because they have maintained a policy of international experience and youth and kept a balance. When quality has left or been sold it has been replaced with equal or even better quality. That is why Man Utd are where they are and why we are so far behind them.

For me Wengers failings at the mo are not having that experience in the squad which will help bring on and guide the undoubted young talents they have. Fabregas is the main man at 21 but he has nobody on the pitch to look up to. The young players at United have the likes of Giggs, Scholes, Rio etc. The ones at Liverpool have Gerrard, Carragher.
This means at times Arsenal in tough games can look a bit rudderless.

I do not profess to be a football pundit but do agree with Bravo2zero. I have never been an arsenal fan bearing in mind I was born in Salford. But Arsenal do play some fantastic football and work well as a team, I think they work better as a team than most other clubs, it is a pity they are only a shadow of their former self and they do deserve to win something but I have no idea how they should go about sorting their problems out.

Besides, Wenger has bought experienced player into his squad following the departure of others, off the top of my head; Rosicky, Gallas, Sylvestre and Arshavin had all made their reputations prior to arriving at Arsenal, unfortunately they obviously haven't been able to build on them since.
Plus I suppose you can add to that the chaos caused by Gallas' shambolic captaincy, and Wengers continued misguided belief that Bendtner is a quality striker

Wenger has been immense as a manager. He's gone off the boil in the past few years in his spending but think how well we were doing last season? top 8 points clear? we have been riddled with injuries.
look at the change since arshavin came?
few experienced players and away we go.
wait and see what happens. The yank will get major shareholder soon so see what happens there to
Adebayor can **** right off Big Rons words about Marcel comes into mind

Sky Sports | Football | News | Wenger staying with Gunners
Glad to see from the comments i'm not alone in my thoughts as those on here would have you believe.
Crispduk at least when Vieira and Henry were at those clubs and playing they had got more experience by being at such a big club with big names then the rubbish we have been buying since. Diaby, Denilson, Djourou, Ramsey, Bischoff, Wilshire, Bendtner are all utter sh!te and not worthy of being in Arsenal colours. It is the weakest squad I have ever seen at Arsenal and by a long way at that.
The purchases of Gallas and Silvestre were big mistakes. Gallas as he is not a leader but a trouble maker and the captaincy should have gone to Gilberto but obviously not being French meant he was ignored and so he left - a very big mistake. Silvestre is probably the worst purchase Wenger has ever made. Man Utd do not sell good players to Arsenal. Silvestre is appallingly bad and might as well not be on the pitch when he plays as he is nothing more than a hindrance. Ferguson must have been laughing his ar$e off when he sold him to Wenger and probably couldn't get the deal done quick enough to off load him.
Buying Arshavin is the best purchase Wenger has made of recent times but then again that was forced upon him and he still did his best to get out of it by holding out until the deadline causing the deal to nearly fall through. He just can not stomach spending £15m on one player which is crazy, £15m is a snip for Arshavin and you have to pay a lot more than that for quality players. Until he budges on that insistence not to spend money we will always struggle to buy players and keep players. Look what happened with not renewing Flaminis contract in time and letting Hleb go. Those two fcuked off to two of the biggest clubs in Europe Oh and don't even get me started on the issue of selling Diarra to Portsmouth for £5m who then go on to sell him to Real Madrid for £19m Another great bit of business by the Arsenal board No wonder they don't have any money to spend because they keep throwing it away like £14m lost in Diarra and no fee for Flamini who was playing great football and a French International who Milan got for free because Arsenal didn't renew his contract in time ffs.
Those Gooners who think everything is well and a perfect job is being done need to take off their rose tinted spectacles and look at all the massive **** ups that have happened as examples mentioned above.

Wenger's job in the last few years has indeed been to keep Arsenal in CL without spending too much money.
New Stadiums don't grow on trees.
He's done a great job in doing that.
He'll need a trophy next season though !

Nope they don't grow on trees but spending vast sums of money on redeveloping Highbury into flats/apartments instead of on the team when the housing market is dead was another fabulous bit of business by the board. They are yet to recoup that investment on the development which is why there is no money to spend. I think the team should come first not property development. There is no point having an amazing stadium if you haven't got an amazing squad to play in it.

They arent dealing with the development. thats another company, arsenal sold it off for them to build. Arsenal get the money from the development end of this year, which in turn pays for the stadium.
He hasnt had money to spend really and we have always been a top 4 club, last year was our most skint year and we only finished around 5 points behind the winners.
Everyone knows we need a strong midfielder and a world class centre back/striker. Dont need to keep reminding us
Remember how much money the yids, newcastle extra have spent and for what. even chelsea finished trophyless last year, if everton play well then it could be same this year

Yes but Dave they've never had good squads in the first place The difference is we had an excellent squad that Wenger let diminish. That is the heart of the issue. If you have an expensive sports car you pay the money to keep it running at its best. Wenger serviced his expensive sports car with cheap badly made parts.

I think he is a brilliant manager.
Arsenal are a brilliant example of young talent.
If they had a player like Essien, Mascherano or Y. Toure they would be a much more complete team.
At present they aren't well enough balanced.
This season liverpool have been more balanced and the improvement is plain to see.
Most of the same players as last season with more playing time between them.
If he does leave i will be sorry to see him go.
The 4 4 draw against liverpool was one of the bst games i've ever seen.

For me that was two teams who forgot to defend for the last 20 minutes, the spaces that were opening up for the attacking players were ridiculous, but great entertainment all the same, pretty much like the LFC vs CFC game from the week before.
