Default Respect Campaign

Anyone else think this is a joke. IMHO Respect has to start with the officials. All these rules about not crowding the ref yet they still let it go on. And before anyone bangs on about Man Utd I will admit our players are quite often the worst at it.

Was watching our game against Villareal last night and I counted at least 3 occasions where we were attacking and pressing one of their defenders very near the touchline and villareal were falling over before our players even made contact. It got to the point where rooney had his hands up in the air saying Im not touching him and the linesman is like 4ft away and flags it. Really does make a mockery of the game where the attacker should (again IMHO) have the advantage. Is it any wonder that the players have no faith in the officials to make the right decisions.

I'll second that mate, if i can see what is obvious diving from watching on a tv, surely the ref has to be able to see it in real life. Yes we get the replay bennifit and super super slow mo action shots but 9 times out of 10 you can see whats happened in real time.
Yes they do a hard job etc etc and some descions they make i can live with because its a tough call to make. For anyone watching the arsenal game last night, one of dynamo's players had been shot and rolling on the floor when we had the ball. As soon as they get the ball back the little ***** has a look up and breaks out into full sprint. obvious cheating yet the ref does nothing. if the ref missed it, there is no way one of the other 3 officials missed it.

refs allow themselves to be surrounded, they should get some ***** and start booking persistant offenders. warn them that if they approach again they will get booked.
look at rugby, when im playing i have to ask the ref for permission to talk to him and most of the time he says no so the captain has to speak on my behalf. not once have i ever back chat a ref, why? out of respect! his word goes move on

Where did I say he didnt muppet - that kinda of situ is different in that it happened fast and the ref wasnt as close. That I can live with for or against us. Im referring to the basic decisions. Its ok for the FA, UEFA etc to keep on about the players sorthing themselves out but its gotta come from the top and be consistent.

FA/UEFA/FIFA and consistent in the same sentence? You are joking?

It'll be FULLY implemented at grass-roots level, almost fully at lower league level, and not at all for the top clubs, since they would play blue hell losing players all the time for big games.

trust me, we've been here before

I think the "rule" should be as follows:

After the ref says "captains only" or "player only" (i.e. player relating to incident), anyone within 5 yards of the ref (apart from the captains/player in question of course!) gets a yellow card. They'll soon stop surrounding the ref. If they have any issue, the captain is the one who represents their views to the ref.

Not even sure they need a "rule" for the above, it could come under "dissent"?

They should also, like rugby and hockey, allow the ref to move the game up 10 yards if a player keeps complaining after the ref has made final decision etc....... It stops a lot of the backchat to the ref.

I think this is only if the opposing players fail to move 10yds from the ball at free kicks, but it's rarely enforced.

No, that was a 12 month trial only IIRC, it is not applicable anymore.

http://www.fifa.com/mm/document/affe...36/lotg_en.pdf for reference to any query or guidance towards the rules.
