Going on looking at another thread it seems we have all been to matches where the support has been great or sh*t, so who is the best and who is the worst?


I took the GF to a Man Utd game once and frankly the home support was embarrassing. Even the Newcastle fans were singing a song for Man Utd it was that bad.

oh the shame.

If you're talking about this season I was sat right near the Newcastle fans and they were complete sh1te in terms of noise and atmosphere.

OT is very quiet these days but I expect an away following to make a little bit of noise.

All they did was take their shoes off and hold them up to show each other. Weirdos.

 

Super Latics are one of the best away from home hands down. Never a quiet moment at the away games. At home the Chaddy end goes for it constantly when we aint losing but due to the triangle shaped roof it keeps all the noise in, so its really loud if your sat in there but nobody else in the ground can hear you

The Toon Army finished top of the league, with predictions that they will travel a "staggering" 22.8 million miles this season, according to a study by Continental Tyres.

An analysis of all 92 league clubs in England and Wales predicted that Sunderland fans would be second to their North East rivals, travelling 22.3 million miles.

Supporters of Portsmouth faced 21.8 million miles of travel, securing them third place in the Fan Miles league.

The survey said fans from all four divisions would travel 830,363,404 miles this season - nine times the distance between the earth and sun.

I tell you, travelling fans at any ground generally eclipse the home support.

At St.James' the noise is generally she-ite unless inspired by whats happening on the pitch...and thats not alot for the past few years

 

Also have you noticed the table, geographically the teams near the top are at the **** end of the country therefore negating further to travel.

 

Yup, but whats Man Uniteds excuse when theyre not far from Oldham

Luton slap bang in the middle too.

I like to think that Pompey has great support. Home or away we make a row and I dont just mean when we are winning. Last night against Boro 0-0 and still we sang for pretty much 90 minutes.

In my opinion the support is almost as important to me as the game itself. It's half the reason I go.

it take's utd fan's a little more than beating pompey 2-0 in the fa cup 4th round to get excited

 

I think it's very sad that the game has gone the way it has ............Soon it will be like watching snooker with people being told off for making a noise.

Being made to sit is half the problem. You see it where ever you go, when you stand you sing, as soon as you sit back down you go quiet again. If kids can't see let them stand on the seats or on adults shoulders, but lets get back to noisey intimidating atmosphere's....that start and finish in the ground I hasten to add......... It's what made football a great game years ago

 

To busy sat on your seats saying ''Oh well played Ryan, pass it to that other chappie on the wing, I don't know his name but he looks jolly smart.....Pass me another glass of champers please Bee, oh and I think manage another cucumber sandwich too.''

If you can't get excited about EVERY game then great ground, crap fans ..... that's all I can say.

 

Correct, but we are generally out of both cup competitions early on and its taken over all the games not just league. So on that account it easily evens out. Apart from the fact the FAC is fixed so you always get a home draw

 

I was at the Newcastle 'v' Man United game on New Years Day and the Man United fans drowned out Newcastle. I was in the Stretford End for the Villa FA Cup game and it was deafening. The Portsmouth game at the weekend was also full of singing from all over. I was at the Watford game last night and the fans never gave up singing. You should go in the Trafford pub and hear them or the Metro!!!

when the gallowgate gets going, they rival anyone for noise.

just a shame "fat fred" wont offer the funding to help build that excitement

When you consider how many London derbys there are in the Premiership now, 6 of Chelseas away games are within a 30 mile radius of Stamford Bridge. On that basis Chelsea would obviously have the most commited fans

 

Great day that one, If Man U were winning comfortably all you would have heard would be the Man U top tier supporters that day.

But the fans got behind the team because we were playing one of the best sides and had nothing to lose.
Alway I reckon everyone was probably still drunk,hungover or both

 

There is nothing better than taking a good number to a ground and BOTH sets of supporters going at it hammer and tong for 90 minutes. It's what football is about.....

 

But will they all be man u fans next season,when you lose the prem.

I know its different but I reckon we took between 60,000/ 90,000 to an away leg, (well final I suppose).

UEFA cup, Seville, 60k min, 90k prob.

500,000 if you believe everyone that claims to have been there!!!!
