Thumbs up

Darren Clarke. Anyone who plays golf knows how much of a "mind" game it is. The Ryder cup is the ultimate test, and to do as well as he did, 4 weeks after his wife died, well.

Only one winner for me......

Joined a team who were at the bottom of the table (ok, had only played 1 game) and with his solid performances in defence and midfield (not to mention his 3 super goals) carried the team to second in the league.

Who is it.....

Me!!!

(The Mitcham and Tooting 6-a-side Monday night league is very hard you know)

Two poits here:

1. Golf's not REALLY a sport is it guys?

2. Allan Knill, manager at Rotherham United deserves a medal. His team were deducted ten points this season, through no fault of theirs or the managers. (Directors put them in administration.)

They are now out of the relegation zone, and steadily climbing. WITH the ten points, they'd be 6th!

BTW: did you know that Rotherham are one of only TWO league clubs to have EVERY vowel in their name?

And the other club is..............?

Never watched it for years. All I have to explain the reason why is lets go back the last 20 years and look at some personalities!!!
1986: Nigel Mansell (Formula One racing driver)
1987: Fatima Whitbread (javelin thrower)
1988: Steve Davis (snooker player)
1989: Nick Faldo (golfer)
1990: Paul Gascoigne (footballer)
1991: Liz McColgan (long-distance runner)
1992: Nigel Mansell (Formula One racing driver)
1993: Linford Christie (100m sprinter)
1994: Damon Hill (Formula One racing driver)
1995: Jonathan Edwards (triple jumper)
1996: Damon Hill (Formula One racing driver)
1997: Greg Rusedski (tennis player)
1998: Michael Owen (footballer)
1999: Lennox Lewis (boxer)
2000: Steve Redgrave (rower)
2001: David Beckham (footballer)
2002: Paula Radcliffe (long-distance runner)
2003: Jonny Wilkinson (rugby union player)
2004: Kelly Holmes (middle-distance runner)

Some yes as in Flintoff last year. The rest??????
And sad though it is for Darren Clarke with his wife passing away I don't really feel that is relevant in this case.
Unless of course it's nothing really to do with sport - just sentiment.

With the notable exceptions of Freddie, Kelly Holmes & Gazza, there is a distinct lack of personality in that list.

And Gazza only won it because he cried like a big soft girl after his own fcukwitted stupidity got him yellow carded

Hartlepool United for one.

Torquay United for two.

Blackburn Rovers Nil (does that count? )

I think your question is out of date

Its all about success and achievement, rather than out and out Personality.

Darren Clarke (and the whole Ryder Cup team) I would imagine would have a great chance, as would David Walliams for swimming the Channel.

My vote would be Walliams....................you try swimming the Channel!! No way!
