Default Carling Cup Final: Manchester United vs. Wigan

A few seasons ago, I couldn't fathom having such a desire to lift the Carling Cup, but, here we are. As our only realistic chance of silverware this year, and a chance to add a slight twinkle to another mediocre season, I hope we come good today.

It's good to be going up against Wigan, as I have great respect for them.

What do you mean, mediocre season? I think you've done brilliantly, most newly promoted teams get nowhere near the silverware in their first season

Great performance by the lads. A little harsh on Wigan, but I shouldn't complain.

Dont think so, the two most scummiest teams in the whole of England in the final

,akes me laugh how Fergie played the youngsters throughout the whole tournament and then goes and plays pretty much a first choice team (barring RVN) Didnt he trust the youngsters yesterday? I would have been well pi55ed off.

The joy on Fergies face when Utd we're scoring, all over the mickey mouse cup. what a knobber.

Makes me laugh the way United used to treat this competition and then seeing the celebrations after winning it on Saturday, it just made it funny to see. Thats the great heights united are hitting now though isnt it

Yes it's very funny

Fact is with the teams playing in the CL it was not possible to always play the strongest teams so the top teams do the sensible thing and try to bring younger players in. It's not just United who have done this.

I guess going out of the CL meant they could play a stronger team later on... all the other teams will be out as well after the next games so at least United will have a trophy to show for it.

well not exactly the case is it? you wasnt in Europe when you played Burton Albion yet the majority of the team were youths... United have disrespected English football on many levels IMO. starting with pulling out of the FAC to play in South America.... remember that? no excuses for that.

The Carling Cup isnt the priority at the start of a season, but winning it is still an achievement. It isnt at the same heights as the Premiership or the Champions League, but is still worth aiming for. Chelseas celebrations were similar when they wont it i remember, although they had a few other trophys lined up too!

Remind me who you support, is it NF??

I really can't remember you ever contributing anything slightly constructive in the sports threads, let alone some good hearted banter, it's all bull**** and bitterness, understandable though if you are a NF fan

LOL Nope not a nottingham forest fan. Does it matter what I contribute to the Sports threads? Ive contributed plenty much the same as you or others, mainly England threads etc where we've had sensible discussions about football. I cant join in the majority of threads like you lot because your all Prem team supporters talking about stuff that my club hasnt been involved in for a good 13/14 years and probably wont be involved in again unless were lucky.

What have you contributed to the Sports thead thats constuctive? Why would it be bull**** and bitterness? I dont hide the fact that I hate Manchester United. I dont admire Chelsea and all the other clubs either but what I do add a point about is the fact that you hear United fans calling Chelsea fans and the club in general for buying their success whilst overlooking how alot of what United have achieved over the years was with the aid of good money.

And for what its worth, I dont give too hoots how Chelsea celebrated, as I say Im not that interested or bothered to laugh about it but my point was Alex Fergusons face when United scored was like he had won the Champions League....
