Watched Skysports fights of 2003 last night. Joe Calzaghe making the 13th defence of his super middleweight world title. Unbeaten in something like 11 years (amateur and pro). And to the think he hardly gets a mention amongst footy players like Rooney who in comparison have done nothing.

Calzaghe was a ledge mate,
I used to watch him with with one of my uncles(ex bare nuckle man),
and he allways said he never got the rewards he deserved,
cheers for the good flash back mate,

Calzaghe has never been regarded as a great cause hes never fought any greats.Ok he fought Eubank but a very old Eubank. Its not really Calzaghe's fault but there was no good fighters around,he came just a couple of years too late after the likes of Benn,Collins,McLelland,Toney and Watson. But in recent years theres been no great Super middle weights. He could have fought the best pound for pound a couple of years ago"Roy Jones Jnr"but Jones never fights outside the states and Calzaghe wouldn't travel either.Jones is still around but he moved up to light heavy then heavy.Recently he moved back down to light heavy but looked a shadow of himself,so even if Calzaghe moved up to light heavy i don't think Jones would be interested cause all he wants to do is fight Tyson at heavy then retire. If you have never seen Jones, and you ever get the chance to see some of his earlier fights, you will realize why none of our Brits wanted to fight him.

Moses as i said in my other post,Eubank was well past it when he faught Calzaghe i think you'll agree. As for the others running scared?there is no others in the supermiddle weight division, calzaghe needs to move up to light heavy to fight someone decent.
