Taken from the LFC site

Steven Gerrard has been appointed the new captain of Liverpool Football Club and will lead the Reds for the first time in his new role in tonight's UEFA Cup clash with Olimpija Ljubljana at Anfield.

Gerrard replaces Finn Sami Hyypia as the new Reds captain. Reds manager Gerard Houllier recognised the appointment is a reward for the growing maturity and leadership qualities shown by the Huyton born midfielder.

Lol! He's made out of bolsa wood. There will be more matches where he is not captain due to injury than where he is captain.

Cool

What a superb captain he makes Bossed the entire field last night with the experience of someone twice his age !

All in all a great game, albeit against a lesser opponent
Le Tallec could have a great future ahead of him if he keeps up that workrate. Smicer worked hard too for a change Sinama made them look silly when he came on late in the game He is quick
