LOL @ grovesy

As Chelsea is a plc, Chelsea Village, shouldnt Bates have sold his stake in the club via the stock exchange?? or are the rules different for football clubs?? Conspiracy theory, he is part of a Russian mafia and will use Chelsea to launder is money via transfers

"lets compare toon silverware and chelsea silverware for one second"

More than happy to:

League Championship = Chelsea 1 NUFC 4
Fa Cup = Chelsea 3 NUFC 6
FA Cup Final Appearances = Chelsea 7 NUFC 13
Cup Winners Cup = Chelsea 2 NUFC 0
UEFA (Fairs) Cup = Chelsea 0 NUFC 1
League Cup = Chelsea 2 NUFC 0

Cheers

PS Sorry it took more than a second to count NUFC trophies...

Nice comparison Toonman but when was the last of those trophies?
Not a Chelsea fan but old news is just that.
I suppose with the money they have to spend no player is safe.
£6 million bid for Bridge turned down. How high will they go?

Paul.

"old news is just that"

Some would call it history and heritage, and most Football Clubs would be delighted to have a record such as ours. Let's face it, some have yet to win anything (Middlesbrough), or have only one solitary FA Cup win to their name (Southampton).

If we want to talk recent times, then our record in the EPL is pretty good. Despite having only played for 10 of its 11 years, we've the 6th highest points total. Average it over the 10, and we've the 4th best, breathing down the necks of Liverpool FC for 3rd spot.

Not a bad record...

Cheers

toonman

truce eh! my point was aimed at grovesy who said chelsea are a sh*t club (which they're not).....historically your facts are right but newcastle is an example (not the only one mind) whose big spending hasnt bought the trophies (in recent years anyway)...

a lot of press has been written since the russian took over (most of it bollox), i will wait and see what happens................ £65m for henry, £35m for nesta.....if we spend that sort of money then this bloke must truly have more money than sense..

roll on the season and i hope the toon do well (as long as they finsh below the blues)

Who knows Grovesy? Kluivert, Stam, or any one of the many foreign players we're constantly linked with... At least we don't need to buy a "big name" to sell our Season Tickets! Or start rumours like many Clubs do, with no intention (and no money) of buying anyone!

Cheers

.
Get a life you mug,the results speak for themselves,it might only be the Asia Cup,but it brought to a point that you are "sh*t" and cannot be compared to a quality side

Have a few more Brown Ales and chill, stop taking the confidence inducing supplements and live in the real world for a change

C,Mon Chelsea.

"cannot be compared to a quality side"

You mean Chelsea, who finished below NUFC again this year?

It's you that needs to live in the real World... And you're right, it WAS only the Asia Cup; don't get so excited. We didn't...

Care3

If you read the posts, you'd know it was Soup Dragon that made the comment. Why the insults? Is this all a Chelsea fan can muster? No facts, no logic, just insults... Typical.

Why do some assume we all conform to stereotypical characterisations?

"geordie juice"

Whilst there's nothing wrong with Newcastle Brown Ale, I'm a Wine drinker myself; don't care much for Beer. Neither do I own a flat cap, a Whippet, work in a Coal mine and sound like Oz from
Auf Wiedersehen Pet.

I live in North Yorkshire, was educated at one of the better Scottish Universities (with Royal connections... ), married an Oxford Graduate, own a Labrador and a NUFC Season ticket!

Do I assume as you're a Chelsea fan, you eat Jellied Eels, belong to a Neo **** gang of Football hooligans, drink AlcoPops, own a Greyhound, and dress like Del Trotter? No...
