Had the jitters over the past 3 or so weeks, but thanks to Liverpool and Chelsea losing today, 3rd place is ours.

Champions League football at SJP again next season. And the Makems sunk without trace as the worst team the PL has ever seen.

Don`t half make next weeks game with Liverpool and Chelsea a £10million winner takes all!!!

We`ll see who Bobby brings in in the close season, but being in the CL is a big draw for any big player we go to sign. Beattie, can you hear us????

Well done Toon.

Don't you have to play a qualifier to get in the CL next season?

"Geordies in the Champions League"

Let's leave it to the Mockney Cockneys and The Scousers to fight it out for the £15,000,000 prize!

Bit of a nail biter today though - Post, Bar and off the line. Still we got the one that counted. TOON! TOON!

Cheers

Yeah, we`ve got to qualify, but after getting to the second round this year, should be one of the top seeds (hopefully), which means we SHOULD miss out on the teams from Spain and Italy.

But, with a couple of good buys in the summer, we shouldn`t fear anyone in the qualifiers on a home and away basis.

We've had to qualify on both previous occasions, but as Walwal says, we shouldn't fear any other team that's there. We've already jumped up the World Team rankings because of our exploits in this Season's CL, so I'd be surprised if we weren't seeded. It can't have escaped UEFA that we got as far as Arsenal did in this year's comp, gained the same number of points, and were in a harder group!

Cheers

An article in the Mail on Sunday says we don't have to qualify - ist 3 places get direct entry. Any ideas folks? The MOS's a crap paper anyway. Have they got it wrong?

Cheers

Always good to see more british teams in the CL. Its about time we started dominating instead of the greasy spaniards.

"need a stronger showing from the English teams in the CL"

I don't think we'll be as naive in the early stages this time round.

Plus, it doesn`t help when your no.1 frontline get banned/sent off for a total of 9 games between them (I`ve included Bellamy`s sending off in there cos he only played 5 mins against Inter).

We`ll be a year wiser next time.
