Gerrard is gonna get time off for bad behaviour after that one. Two footed stamp with no intention of getting the ball. Only reason he stayed on the pitch is due to that incompetent buffoon poll being the ref.
As for us and blackburn the less said the better

Referees seriously need to start curbing Gerrard and Liverpool as a club needs to be seen not to tolerate his behaviour - which I think they will do.
Then again, the referees seriously need to start acting professional.

Referees are still crap.....Weir should have walked for his deliberate tripping up of Owen when he was going through on goal. Campbell should have had at least 4 yellow cards, especially one for this arm across Gerrards throat. Bet the camera's never showed that

Something needs to be done.
As an up and coming referee myself I feel very frustrated and angry at the inconsistency, the incredulously poor decisions, the "blind eye" syndrome and generally antiquated practices.

I personally didn't see a great deal wrong with gerrard's tackling, neither did the ref or his assistant....
must admit, dire match to watch... makes u wonder if we're gonna win again this season

When reffing on the pitch, the two offences I refuse to tolerate are tackles with studs showing and foul/abusive towards someone.
If I see a sliding tackle from behind where studs are shown to the player being tackled, by the one tackling, then the tackling player will be taking an early bath.
I have never tolerated it and am not afraid to throw those cards around.
The only thing that bothers me about booking players is the fecking match reports afterwards.

Im sorry but Gerrards tackle was bang out of order. There is no way u can defend a player like that no matter how loyal u are to your team. I rate Roy Keane as a great player but he's still a tw@t when he stamps on another player.

I haven't defended Gerrard! TBH I never saw it and have yet to see it on the video I taped. I can imagine that it will be X-rated So will reserve passing comment until I have seen it.

Seen worse from Prawn sandwich King Keane - at least he apologised, others have wrote a book out of it and not shown any remorse whatsoever....lets not even talk about Cantona

Mate, little edgy are we ? You should chill out - it is xmas after all....
Always find that facts usually hit the mark.
My point was that Gerrard showed remorse whilst others are petty enough to carry out revenge attacks.
Gerrard will get his justice or what was a rash tackle = is that better ?

A little edgy? Possibly, I'm still at bl00dy work!
So showing a little remorse makes it a little better does it? How many times has he committed tackles like that now? He is probably thinking about the false remorse he will show afterwards whilst he is in the air just coming down with both feet.....again.
You're right, Keane is no angel.....but neither is Gerrard.

From memory he has done it once before and it was in a derby too for which he got sent off.
A lot of things come into play in derby matches - passion for one, maybe he does get carried away, but it shows committment to me. Sometimes the margins between a good tackle and a horrific is a small one. Looking at the clips it does appear that its more on the thigh than bone - so the potential for any breakages would be offset by the flesh.
You have to remember he is still a young lad - other players are much older and still behave like thugs on the pitch and have worse disciplinary records than him.

Exactly STi - He has done it more than once before...
I take it you place Keane's tackle on Haaland in the same category then? It was in a derby game against City... Surely he was just playing with a lot of passion and commitment...
Nah, didn't think so!

Keane does it all the time, for gods sakes he made an admission to the fact that he wanted to damage Haaland and that went back to Haaland's Leeds days. That was premeditated and had nothing to do with the derby - do you recall what he said to Haaland when he was down on the floor ?
Point is that he won't change his ways (ref Alan Shearer incident when he was ready to punch Shearer) and his manager won't ask him to either.
Difference with Gerrard is that he is a young player and his manager will sort him out.

Your argument is typical of people like yourself. Do you ever mention Vieira in this way? I mean blatantly spitting, for one, in an opponents face is about as dispicable as you can get... I doubt it as he doesn't play for United does he?!

To be honest I don't get animated about any tackle - after all there are authorities in place now to sort this kind of thing out.
Nothing against Beckham as I think he's a great player, nothing against Viera as he is the same. Keane is a different animal and needs to be removed from the game - there's something quite evil about that guy, we should take a closer look at the back of his head....
right, thats me done today - enjoy your xmas everyone, back online later this week....
