*** Ring Of Cambridge run ***
********** NOTE CHANGE OF DATE **********
Ok guys'n'gals... time for another Ring Of Cambridge!
For those who didn't take part last time, this is a 60 mile trip circling Cambridge without using any A-roads (give or take the odd 100 yards
). We start at one pub for 'car inspection'
and lunch - last time The Royal Oak, Barrington - then do half the ring around Cambridge anti-clockwise to The Plough at Fen Ditton, where we stop for coffee or whatever. After a bit, the ring is closed by continuing round anti-clockwise back to Barrington.
Last time was a great success, with over a dozen Scoobies and a couple of Evo's turning up (and no crashes) - very enjoyable way of spending an afternoon. Started about 11:30am last time, ended about 4pm.
Everything is in the pace notes, and we send people out in groups with someone with a co-driver at the front. There will be a few modifications this time to try and eliminate a couple more 30mph zones
I propose the date of Sunday 26th August with a timetable of (roughly):
11:30am People start turning up at the first pub, for 'car inspection'
12:00 Pub opens and we can get coffee
12:20pm Food ordering and eating
1:30pm Start going round the first leg, followed by coffee on arrival at the half-way point
2:30pm Second leg, followed by optional coffee or dessert back at the start
We can all then head off when we're ready.
This was great fun last year - hopefully we can get loads of people coming for a top afternoon in the sun...
Obviously this is a way off yet, but an indication of who's interested may spur me into eliminating more villages and 30mph zones

Cheers
Richard

Great, lots of people interested already!
PTMW! - it actually clashes with the Hungarian GP
but I don't expect I shall be going there for that one... in fact (all being well) I shall probably be otherwise moving that weekend.
Grahame: will give you a shout nearer the time for route changes - thanks!
Looking forward to it already

Puff - I have been a'lurkin on the board looking out for interesting posts.
I actually saw you at the Supra day at Bentwaters but I wasnt in the best of moods as my car had just dumped 5 litres of oil in 2 miles and was looking in a bad way. I put another 5 litres in and it did it again, so I just hid in the far corner of the track taking video footage.
I will probably muster a few Supras up for that date and hopefully see you there.

Sure was! 'fraid I didn't stop but we were in a hurry for a family reunion in Hayes. Had you been visiting Quenbys? See you and Carolyn at the Ring of Cambridge...

Hi Grahame. No, not Quenby's, I had been to Davies the motor factors to pick up some paint..(and to Chelmsford, Bishops Stortford...one of those days)
See you indeed at the ring of Cambridge!
