Well chaps and chapessess....
The Lonthonrun went ahead as planned today and all in all, it was a success with one exception.
We met as planned, far too early in the morning when it was still dark at Dangerous Dave's (Lavendar Hill Subaru)....
We filled our tanks with Super UL for cheap money (Thanks again Dave Mr Superstar )
and we set off in two groups of 9. We had a nice flowing run up round St Albans and up and on towards Leighton Buzzard encountering a nice variety of roads. Unfortunately, Jean-Marc (hope I spelt that right JM) had a little problem when he followed someone up the wrong road and found a sudden change in conditions from tarmac to heavy snow . He's OK and the car is not too bad - Dangerous lept into the breach to do his thing and the car is already in his safekeeping for the repair work.....
We all got together at the halfway mark and had a good chat before doing it all again on the way home.
Once back at Lavendar Hill, it was time for more Subaru Tea and Coffee before whizzing off for some chow. Dave did his thing and fitted a few new bits for some people (dedication or what.... )
and Mike had a chance to "fettle" a bad boy Falkland BB:
Once again, thanks to all who came, braved the weather and special thanks go to Dave for providing (cheap) Petrol, tea, coffee, parts and damage inspection services.
We'll do it again when the weather is a bit nicer - read mid summer.
Ta,
Matt.

Quote of the day had to be.....
"No it wasn't a cossy and yes I did get flashed" LOL
as Callum explains that he went flying past a couple of guys in his sapphire only to not see the gatso as he entered the 30.
That STI V behind me was a serious bit of kit..
Traffic and weather were a bit **** and offcourse Jean Marc's off was gutting for everyone but all in all I had fun
Having now done one I learned a couple of things....
6:30 is bloody early, Leave on time, make sure your routes OK, Don't have a monster STI behind you and NEVER let someone photograph you with your hand up someone else's exhaust pipe....I'm having a complete mare trying to explain that one to the MRS.
See you all next time.
Mike

I'd be interested in seeing your STI and Scott's RA on a track together would be something I'd pay for and I'd bring my own tissue.

Thanks for the kind coments guys and girls, a real downer for me. Rob W is fine which I am pleased about and I have just slept a lot (how those F1 guys just get in the spare car I don't know!). For those that would like to know what happened here we go...My self and map reader Rob W took the lead from my seemingly lost pal Alan B then drove briskly (those who have been out with me before know that I like to drive within my and the roads limits as I drive Fire appliances proffesionally for a living!)We were driving up hill on a twisty national speed limit road which was nicely damp (scooby road) for about two miles when we came to the top of the hill. The sun was in our eyes and the trees either side just disappeared and we were faced with snow covered fields either side of the road blending in to the twisty road ahehead! I had about ten yards to get down to the ten miles per hour that would have been apropriate and we were doing about sixty which had been fine before! As we all know I didn't make it. I did my best and oppted for the field on the near side with hopefully not too much damage being done. The car is now awaiting a quote from the shark (not an appropriate name for Dave as he is one of the most considerate guys I know and certainly no `shark.'At the end of the day s**t happens, no one was hurt thank f##K, as a fire man I see a lot of bad stuff and generally these drives are incident free but when conditions change that suddenly.....Thanks again for the kind comments mutant-matt, RB170, mirage, RiKKi23, g-man, Grant, Allan B and all the guys and gals that wished me well but I neglected to mention. See you ALL when the ice clears.

Sorry I didn't make it chaps - had endured a 4.5 hour drive the night before in the driving snow, and was completely knackered when I finally got it - didn't wake up till well gone 10 on Saturday morning... and probably wouldn't have felt up to it, even if I had set my alarm... Hopefully see you all on the next one...

Top Morning chaps!!
Nice to meet you all.
Bit early for a Saturday though, ended up falling a kip at 8.30pm that night.
Sorry about the Scoob Jean.
Hope to do it again soon if I've still got the car.

Grant, I'm getting confused - I seem to be talking to you (Scoobynet ID GRANT) and G MAN as though you are one? What's going on there? Who took those pictures and who was driving? Is this you Grant? : (there were so many new faces I lost track....)
Yours, confused,
Matt.

co-drive, the pictures you've posted are not bad, but.....
You've posted the 2nd picture about 5 times. Also, would you like to make them a bit smaller? I can't view them directly but the URL does work if I open it up in a seperate browser, anybody got the same prob?
Matt.
