****** SORRY, obviously I meant Eastside...early morning etc.etc. *****
Hi All,
Blimey, sorry for the late notice - I can't believe it's November already!
Anyway, South Hants Pub Meet this time Portsmouth Side to allow the Southampton lot to have a quick blast down the motorway So, 10th Nov, about 7:45/8ish onwards at:
The Seagull
Cornaway Lane
Portchester
Fareham
Hampshire
PO16 9DB
Tel: 01329 237015
(Thanks Andy and Nick ) Map HERE. I'll give them a quick call later today to confirm it's ok Hopefully this can be our "Eastside" pub from now on
Southampton Lot - we'll be meeting at the Homebase car park in Hedge End just off junction 7 to cruise down there, meeting at 7:15 for a 7:30ish departure.
And whilst I'm here - can I just draw your attention to this: SIDC Santa-cruise, we're organising a Scooby run to some Childrens homes in Newbury/Reading with Scooby's full of Christmas pressies, so if you'd like to join in sign up on the thread or let me know, if you can't join in but would like to donate a Christmas pressie to someone less fortunate than ourselves bring it along to the South Hants Meet and I'll take it up with me We're looking for things like: crayons, pencils, colouring books, games, teddys, etc.
They're going to be for disabled as well as able kids - so anything you can spare would be fantastic...and as I know most of you are men, I'll wrap them up for you
Lastly - Christmas "Scooby-do", looking for a meal and then some drinks etc. afterwards, so if anyone's got some suggestions let me know. Need somewhere in the middle of P'mouth and S'ton and the only one I could come up with is that big pub off Junction 8 - does Chrismtas meal for £14.50 per head or something like that - good 'ol beefeater type thingy! Let me know if you guys can come up with anything else...
Anyway - I'm off to stalk Petter tomorrow (otherwise known as going to the WRGB WAHOO!), so I won't be back 'till late Sunday night. I can always be got on the mobile, so any burning issues don't hesitate to ring See you all Monday

Guys,
SPECS cameras are NOT on the M27. They are on the M4(new) and have been on the M6 round B/Ham for sometime. Basically they measure your average speed between a given distance, thats what I've been told by some very nice policemen who work the M6 !!
They are also VERY accurate and I know that my RoadAngel goes ballistic when I go through them (at 70mph) for several miles round the M6.
And Jen, don't worry - Landrovers don't go quick enough to interest SPECS ;D

Argh, the pub meets and my night-shifts seem to have become horribly synchronised!
But as it's a local one I can come along and still not have to leave too early.

Evil K,
think Ive seen Steve around, he was snowboarding last month (lucky wassit!).
Ill give him a bell to find out if he`s coming this month.
guys, seagull, not seahorse but you all knew my directional skills so I cant be solely to blame
see you there.
Nick, hopefully bringing a sport owning mate along as well so should be cool, hows about a fort Brockhurst pre-meet?

Just in case any of you aint aware of the following, I got a note in work regarding speed cameras on the M27.
Scarey stuff, it means I cant get out of 2nd!
FYI
Just received this information, which I thought might be of use to you....
> The new electronic signs on the M27 were switched on by some transport
minister
on Tuesday 4th Nov. They are rigged with the SPECS speed cameras.
>
> SPECS is a camera based system. As you go past a camera software
> detects and reads your number plate. When you go past the next camera,
> it detects and reads your number plate again. It knows how far apart
> the cameras are so it can work out your average speed between the two
> cameras.
>
> The system is fully automatic and will automatically issue a ticket
> without any form of human intervention. It does this for every single
> vehicle that passes a camera! You will not know you've been nicked as
> the cameras don't flash. There's no film in them either, they're
> digital. Images of you in your car, together with the date and time
> are stored on disc (I assume they only keep them if you've been
> nicked). It works 24/7, 365 days a year, and theoretically, there's
> absolutely no limit on the number of tickets that it can issue.
>
> The whole section of the M27 between Fareham (junc 11) and Rownham
Services
> (between junctions 2 and 3) is wired, both ways. It is believed that
> the system is set to trigger a ticket at 78 mph.
>
> The bad news gets even worse. For those who've got radar detectors,
> they won't work. SPECS is entirely passive, there's no radar or laser
> beam to pick up.

"these are not speed cameras in the true sense but are used to work out vehicle average speed, they are connected to the DVLA and the Traffic police use mobile units and compare against previous information received from the cameras."
Thank god for that!
Karlos
