I'm picking up a red Blitzen Wagon in the next few days and was interested on who you are insured with and what vehicle is listed on the reg docs? I've made a few calls and Blitzen doesn't appear to be listed as a model with insurers? Did you insure as a GT? Thanks and great thread

It was insured with Adrian Flux, but the renewal quote was ridiculous so I've just moved to admiral. I've found the key is the V5 document. Mine is registered as an imported Legacy Blitzen, so as long as the insurance company reference the V5 then there should be no issues.
But it was hard to shop for on line quotes as it's hard to find a comparative spec. A GT is probably as close as it gets.

It's taken a few months to gather the bits, but I had pretty much done everything else I wanted to do with the car so it was time to bite the bullet. Didn't get it all done in time for my track day at Snetterton in November so first time on track with it will be the Pomeroy Trophy in Feb at Silverstone.

Keith Micheals are my go to insurance default. Import specialists and the best quote by far.
Moley (Gary Molson) posts on here and is there Subaru specialist.
A quick update and something off the to-do list.
found a recommeded smart repair man so he sorted out the rear o/s door.
Slight knocking from front, which I think (and hope) is the drop links. I've got a set in the parts box left over from my wrx so I'll have a go at fitting those soon.
So, the sun is out so I thought I'd have a go at the front drop links and AVO mounts.
Annoyingly the legacy is too low, and the over hanging bumper at the rear too long to get onto standard ramps. Even with bricks...
So I had to limit myself to a bit of touching up with the left over paint from the door repair.
This was the edge of the boot lid:

Not perfect but a big improvement.
Now I need to book myself in at lift off ramps.
New discs, new pads, braided hoses, rocker cover gaskets, timing belts, rollers and a water pump.
And some good coffee in the cupboard from when Tim Farmer gets here tomorrow.
Right. Not going entirely to plan. For the first time ICP have supplied parts that don't fit. The brake pads are about 10mm to small (front and back) and I've got the wrong water pump. So a trip to euro car parts and £150 later I've got the correct pump and pads.
Now the car is in bits and the source of the hot oil smell is apparent:
However, while doing this Tim has noticed the breather pipes are splitting, and the only way to change the rocker covers is to jack up the engine.
one of those times I'm really glad I didn't try to do this myself...
Can I ask what you used to touch the paint up and how you did it? I've got a couple of points I want to cover where the bare metal has been exposed and I want to protect them while I figure out what I'm going to do with the bodywork long term.
Ignore the massive gap on the headlight, someone used it as a football last week (smashing all the plastic brackets inside) and I'm yet to fit the replacement

The bonnet should be fairly easy as it's aluminium. Clean the area and give it a wipe with ipa to get rid of any dirt, then use a cotton bud to touch in the damage.
The door looks more tricky. I'd suggest that's going to need taking back to bare metal and filling/re-spraying. I'd estimate about £150 from experience.
Now, through hefty use of my wallet, the hot oil smell is gone, the steering is smooth and quiet, the brakes are much, much better (even though the braided hoses also didn't fit) and the cambelt, pumps and rollers are all done.
Now the to-do list is: fit the avo mounts, get some new breather pipes and then turn my attention to the interior.
Normally a light bulb change wouldn't warrant a post but the muck behind the light was horrible.
It's all cleaned out now. The other side was completely clean.
I think I some time and space to be able to take a few panels off and copy Trooper.
Update time.
Even with new rocker covers there was still a hot oil smell after a long drive. Tim F suggested it could be the cam sensors, as they were very oily.
sadly the cam sensors are expensive. Roughly £75 each and there are four.

where I could get 4 sensors delivered for £140, plus vat and a £10 import fee.

I also contacted CP racetech about the concerns about the braided brake hoses, and they've supplied a replacement rear pair for free. Which is nice.
The set with the right angle fitting look like they'll go on with a much less tight bend in the pipe.
Tim is now outside fitting all this and gettig the car ready for its MOT on Wednesday.

I didn't realise the avcs banjo bolts had filters in them. That'll go on the to do list. What's access to them like?
I've not been doing as much spannering as I'd like, due to laying concrete, building sheds and work trips. Got a few things on my to do list to sort out sp hopefully I'll get a chance to get oily soon.

The banjo's are easy. 2 x 17 mm bolts at the front of the engine (cambelt end). Air trunking comes off on the left and easy access on the right. Take the engine cover off, IC out and check the Turbo banjo while you are at it

Not spent a lot of time with the car as I've been building a new shed and garden office. But while on a tea break I did pick up a used cusco front strut brace:
Should help the front end feel more stable during my 50mph commute along the A14.
It was a doddle to fit. An contendor for the easy mod I've ever done.
Other news is that the leggy passed it's MOT with only an advisory for wear on the inside edge of the rear tyres, so the alignment may need another check.
