I'm thinking about a FMIC for my hawk sti. Going to investigate what's required this weekend in terms of:
- moving the washer bottle
- removing the fog lamps (Spec D has fogs)
- removing the bumper beam
I'm just wondering if anyone knows if the Bug washer tank (the turret mounted one) will fit a Hawk, in case I need to move it - it looks like it might fit in space where the secondary air pump was.
Also I'm wondering if anyone has noticed a difference in handling when removing the front bumper beam and replacing it with a much smaller bracket and a flimsy aluminium intercooler, as it's a fairly substantial bit of steel that braces the two front longits? I guess there could be a difference in crash performance too, but maybe not so much experience of it to report, hopefully anyway!
Hi, caught me at the right time as I’m refreshing car for winter so lots of parts are off.
In respect to washer bottle . It is fine & does not require moving .
The front bumper support is not a support at all & is in fact a crash absorption bar , now when fitting a front mount you can design your own if you so wish , not really a hard thing to do but if you have a front end , well let’s just say your engine is toast & probably your feet as well .
So back to front bumper bar here is my modified one ( cut outs & adapted for my FMIC.
Also I use a Perrin over flow bottle wich sits connected to front battery tie . It’s small & does not obstruct . I used a cycle water bottle before the Perrin & that worked equally as good , as your oem washer bottle will be to big for pipe work to squeeze by
