My 30 year old niece is getting married in June. I don't see her much but am very fond of her and would like to get them something a bit different for a wedding present. I'd like something that will last and I am not into buying egg poachers or bath towels from a John Lewis list. Less than £100.
It doesn't have to be anything useful, just a bit different. I like historical things so it could be an authenticated bit of a meteor of a 100 million year old fossilised shark's tooth. In my last house I bought a chunky 200 million year old ammonite and mounted in my stone office wall. So please engage Lateral Thinking mode and send ideas. Have you received anything "odd" that you kept for years?

I'm not entirely sure but I think I read somewhere, you can get a star named after you. Or as my girls got me a plot on the moon, lol apparently I own an acre of the moon
I asked my wife about this (naturally) & she mentioned an art shop type place near me (The Hour Image Gallery, Forfar). The woman who owns it is a talented artist & has done stuff for wedding presents before. Her stuff is very reasonably priced and she can do stuff according to your budget. I'm sure she'd arrange a delivery.
Thanks guys, a couple of great ideas which I wouldn't have thought of
Since posting I wondered about getting them a small tree. They have just bought a small gaffe in London outskirts so I'll have to find out if they have a small garden and which way it faces. There are some cracking Japanese Acer type trees, slow growing with nice foliage. I'll do some investigative work. Personally I love Willows but they can wreck a drainage system very quickly.
Well to be fair with the original description of something out of the box that would last years and be different and sort of cherished... my first thought was a big black ***** they might not appreciate it at first but I'm sure she'll come to love it and think very fondly of Uncle David.
Sorry I resisted last night... but I just couldn't hold back today.
