Default Clifford Concept 650 - programming four-button remote

I lost one of the five-button remotes that came with my Clifford Concept 650 mk2 system. The five-button remotes are fairly pricey so I thought I'd try my luck with a four-button Clifford item purchased used on the 'bay.

As the four-button remotes cannot be auto-learned by the system, I've tried following the instructions in the manual for "new remote learn" - which appear to be:

- in programming mode press the "o" button three times
- then press the "*" button once
- then press the arm/disarm button on the remote

Unfortunately it doesn't work (I've tried changing the battery on the remote).

Any idea if I am going wrong somewhere, before I reject the remote as faulty?

that seems to be the correct number of presses...

are u doing the 'entering programming mode' first ?

"turn ignition on - press * until chirp heard" then do button presses...
