Which car alarm ? Recommendations PLEASE !
Hi Guys.
I am looking to buy an alarm for my car but have no idea which one ? I know absolutely nothing about car alarms :-( What should I be looking at when buying car alarm ?
I don`t want anything expensive really, car has a central locking but I have just got bored with opening the car manually.
Makes and links will be very helpful.
Thank You

as long as its a cat 1 alarm it should be fine, most do central locking nowadays.
clifford have always been a good make.
category one is what most insurance will require and is what is fitted to newer uk cars as standard.

Thank You.
Any other makes do cat 1 apart from Clifford ?
Looking on EBay and cannot find anything else :-( and TBH £300 it's not what I want to spend for it. Any cheaper options ?

Hey mate.
Toad AI606 is a great inexpensive alternative to the Clifford's. it's so good it has not changed since the 2000s.
I can help you install one, but for a Subaru it's bst to get a certified installation. To save you time and money, install a 2 wire slave actuator yourself in the drivers door and run the wires into the cabin.
That will save you an hours labour and cost of the part is around £5 delivered. You need it.
Regards.

Im about to have a viper pulled out and replaced with a toad as the viper came in the car, but has gone bandy and is draining the battery!
Had toads on my last two cars and they never missed a beat! My other car has an A101CL, which i fitted myself along with central locking and its great (apart from occasionally locking and arming itself when i havent pressed the button ..... toadinstaller, any ideas why?)
Spend the extra on a cat1 if you can though bud, the ai606 comes in at £360ish fitted.
Clifford, years ago i had a clifford cause all sorts of issues ..... not sure wether it was the alarms quality or the fact it was bolted into a ford orion .... either way i wouldnt buy another clifford! (or another ford orion come to that).

It's best if you get it certified mate. Reason is some insurers might or might be bothered. ..so a self install could hurt you in the future. Shop around.
